A skin trading system that benefits the players & the Devs

I’m sure we’ve all had that one good lookin’ skin slip through our fingers. Whether that be a Blizzcon skin, Noire Widow, Pink Mercy, or even if you’re simply just a new player who missed out on these skins. We all know those skins are most likely never coming back. So what if there was a way we could still potentially get these skins while also supporting the game?

I think I’ve seen a couple of these ideas before. What would usually be brought up is how easily this could be abused or how the OW team would have nothing to gain after spending time and recourses creating a system like this.

Well, what if they just added a fee onto each trade by charging each person? Let’s say…1000 premium ow coins per person per trade. That’s basically $20 Blizzard will be making off of every trade. That way the system can’t be abused, and the developers would be getting a little extra on the side.

And hey! At least the money will be going towards the company who made the game and not to the people who’re charging $3,500+ for the Blizzcon Sym and Genji skins on eBay. (Those are the actual prices btw)

This was just some food for thought! I appreciate those who were able to read through the whole thing:p let me hear your opinions!

The Blizzcon Bastions sure sold out fast for $500, though! The seller had 25 of those tickets a few months ago. Now there’s only one more available.

blizzcon bastion is a bottom tier skin and the seller is conning you into thinking people bought that sh** at that pricepoint

You’re right! It may never happen. But is it something you may want to happen? Enough attention can increase the odds.

I’d rather see a Steam Marketplece system

Shooot, whether their sales are real or fake, I’d still trade my Sinatraa Zarya Alien skin for that Blizzcon Bastion.

I would likely never trade any exclusive skin I have with anyone for any reason, they would have to offer me something in return, coins aren’t something of equal value at all.

$3500 might suffice if I’m being honest!

Little up there, but I could understand that! I wouldn’t mind trading an exclusive for an exclusive. Depending on the exclusive!

Since every new OW2 skin is basically an exclusive, alongside battle pass ones. I could maybe trade something like Illidan for Cyberdemon Genji had I missed out on either as an example.(I’m still not going to since Illidan is my favorite skin for him though lol)

Exactly! 30 seasons from now there’s going to be so much more skins that hardly anyone will have because each one will cost money. So if there was a $10 fee to trade but the skin you wanted was $20 then you’d be saving some money if you found someone who wanted to trade ya the skin!

Oh yes lets make this game just like tf2, where blizzard can make profit from players effectively scamming each other, in the delusion that skins have intrinsic value…

Thats a great way to hasten this game into the cash grab cruise control state. Tf2 has been in for nearly 7 years

It’s hard to encourage anybody to put time and effort into something that they’ll end up getting no money for. That’s why Overwatch 1 suffocated itself. Because the game wasn’t being funded enough to constantly produce content. Overwatch is free to play now. The only way they’re making money is off of skins. Hence why the Battlepass was put in. So why not add a feature that helps encourage the Devs to pump out more content?

No it financially failed for several reasons. Firstly no one bought loot boxes because we could grind for them but blizzard expected that. What they did not expect was for the OverWatch League to a total Financial train wreck they entrapped themselves into that’s been hemorrhaging money for years.

You do realize that this is only going to result in people getting scammed out of their accounts becoming much more frequent as it creates Financial incentive to scam people and steal their accounts

Whoooaaa no no! I don’t mean trading like that! Lol I mean like how you would trade in a Pokémon game. You don’t give out any personal information.

And trust me, I’d rather every new feature the Devs add be free, too. But I doubt that’s going to happen. Skins are what’s keeping this game going right now. Overwatch League is a mess, the gameplay is hit or miss, but the art department can really dish out some fantastic skin designs.

They will Come back, Blizzard’s not going to miss opportunities to sell something a second or third time, especially when they don’t have to pay staff to create it again.

It’s all about trying to exploit fomo

You think the Blizzcon Rein will? Because I’m sure hoping it does. That’s the only skin I’m missing. And there’s also skins like Noire, Alien Zarya, Pink Mercy,(just to name a few) that we know for a fact won’t come back

And you think the people that own them are going to part with them if they even are still playing? Which is unlikely considering what a dumpster fire this game has become

I would like something like this. I have skins on an older account I wish I could transfer and I would be willing to pay money to do so. I kind of doubt it’ll happen but it’d be nice to have as an option.
