How do you deal with clutter? I enjoy the gameplay of 6v6 more, but sometimes it’s hard to even know what’s going on since there’s so many people on screen at the same time. Is it simply a question of people learning how to position in different angles? For the first time I found myself actually spamming as ana, just shooting in one direction to heal/damage whoever is there, since it’s quite impossible to focus at these chokes.
That’s a downside of 6v6 for sure. The visual clutter can get pretty insane. Idk why there isn’t some option in graphics setting to lower Vfx. Would help a lot.
The unhelpful answer is that you just kinda get used to it over time. That said, playing heroes that can take off angles and don’t rely on playing quite as much a death ball style could probably mitigate it a bit too I guess.
I can’t imagine how difficult the game must feel for newer players though and agree the visual clutter is a lot at times.
All I could was turn down every single graphics option to the very minimum and just hope for the best.
If you had a game where every single ult was popped at once it was hell. Imagine Symm ults being popped on both sides at once, along with Zarya gravs and Genji ults, along with Bap Windows, and Orisa shield.
What Goose said, you pretty much learn to use your eyes and ears to read the field.
OW was also designed with team communication in mind so your team is also supposed to make callouts for things you can’t see or help you track things (Sombra can tell you the second Sights expires, if someone dies they can see the ult charge and location of their murderer, your backline can callout flankers, etc).
It was designed as a team game and is played best in a coordinated team, which is a huge part of why so many people adored it. When that that happened well in a pug with a bunch of strangers it was magic

That’s definitely a plus, I saw some youtuber (I think it was Spilo?) mentioning how a big difference between 5v5 and 6v6 is that while one has more space for individual plays, the other relies on team effort. It made me a bit unsure if it would work at all, since in 5v5 you very rarely have any team synergy and people generally don’t have that mindset, but I can already see how naturally people shift their playstyles with the format without communicating at all!

Come to think of it, when I first started playing Overwatch(on 5v5) I also felt confused as hell. It didn’t really feel like a “match” was happening, moreso a struggle to survive haha
More or less it’s what I’m feeling on 6v6 right now, so I guess it is all about getting used to it.
ow1 was not even as bad as ow2 5v5. visual clutter is an ow2 issue, ow1 was fine.
Based on my memory I never was able to focus on all 11 other players. So there is always a blind spot in perception. That’s why some surprise attacks work better.
This is probably the biggest source of clutter in the game
Clutter isn’t the same as old 6v6, with the added HP tanks still have too much “W power” compared to old days. They clearly tried to make this version as tank-centric as possible.
Yep, this is essentially what I had going on and even nowadays with all the accessibility settings, I use a lot of them. So, close captions so I can see what’s happening where with audio cues, and changing outline colors (my brain is funny, I’m not colorblind) so it doesn’t feel like it’s blending into the map environmental details.
