A Potential (Highly Experimental) Solution to Moira

This is just a base idea, numbers and all would, of course, be subject to change.

So many people complain about the damage orb: it’s quite annoying, but that’s usually due to either being stunned to much/ too far in the thick of battle or too low on health to avoid.
Moira also lacks viability due to her barren kit - she can only deal very low damage or heal a good amount in an area - that’s it.
Many people, more and more as each new hero gets added (usually with more CC) that we need some new kind of cleanse ability in this game.
I know most people say such an ability should go to Mercy, but Moira probably needs the utility far more. What I propose is replacing her Damage Orb with an orb that reduces the effects of incoming CC.
This solves the aforementioned problems: no more headache-inducing Damage Orb (I understand it’s really not powerful, it’s just a nuisance), a new form of cleanse, and a potential increase in high-tier viability for Moira.

Thoughts?

I kind of wish Moira only had one orb to throw & it just damaged enemies and healed allies. Too many times I have had a Moira toss nothing but damage orbs when they should have been tossing healing ones.

I like this idea. Would make Moira over-all stronger and much more viable.

I feel Moira works well for the niche she fills. Any additions would bloat her kit [like Ana].

Only at like, overwatch league level. In the normal ladder she gets used plenty. Not equally across all tiers, but she definitely has a presence.

I’m not sure why Moira needs any kind of “solution”. She’s balanced. For once I hope the OW balance team just leaves Moira alone. I like her as she is and don’t want to have to endure another one of blizzard’s “reworks” and relearn a new hero that just looks the same.

I play against Moiras more than I play her myself,
I don’t understand this problem people have with orb.

It moves at glacier pace, so it’s easy to dodge.
Every healing ability in the game can override it’s damage.
And it disappears in after a few seconds.

Yeah, like I said, it’s really not powerful. It’s just a real nuisance, especially when healers are dead/ ignoring you on 20hp. Much of the community seems to hate it, though =P

It being a nuisance is not reason enough to get rid of it.
If your healers are dead and you’re 20 hp, you should be resetting.

idk, unless I’m missing something here, I don’t get it.

Your problem is players who try to play a support character as DPS, not the design of the character.

I think they could let her purple orb have a dva explosion if it doesn’t get used up by the time it elapses. This would be balanced because your team wouldn’t have a heal orb, and the enemy could prioritize absorbing it to avoid the blast. What you guys think

I suppose I should’ve clarified - I find it a bit annoying, but the reason I chose that slot to be replaced is because I felt it was rather underwhelming, but the cries would be unbearable if it were buffed. Sorry for makin all the confusion.

I think their problem is they are DPS mains who don’t want a support character to be able to defend them-self.

Have to say it: nope. 180 hours of “productivity” on Ana, and a bunch on Lucio, Hamtaro, and some DF.

Many who complain do fit that stereotype, though.

I think it could work if Moiras purple ball cause a damage buff to enemies within a certain range.

Part of the fn of playing Moira is paying attention of what’s going on all around, choosing which ball to fire, and when.

At the moment, you can do massive burst healing with yellow ball, if you line it up and time it right, and maybe enough damage to finish off someone who is severely wounded or unaware.

BUffing incoming damage from other team mates could make it even less of a guaranteed kill, but also potentially devastating if fired off at the right time.

As it is, there’s little to no point in firing off the damage ball except as a parting shot, or if you want to play more offensively (as a support character). Because you could fire off the purple ball now, but might want/need yellow ball a few seconds later.

Also, this would simplify Moira, and make her less fun to play.

That is exactly “my problem”. I don’t see how my suggestion/idea for a change would hurt their play-style though.

How exactly would it make her less fun to play?

It would dumb her down and give her an all-purpose ‘Do good things for my team’ ball.

Same as a healer who could just heal through walls.

I want the ‘play-style’ of people who try to play Supports as DPS to be ‘hurt’.

people like to whinge, if you die, have a whinge, you get cc’ed have a whinge, but turn the tables and they play those same heros they are whinging about and there is no whinging… Its human nature, or gaming nature, whatever tickles your fancy.

I would like her dam orb taken away and put in a healing orb that stays in place and heals, something like orisas ult, but not as wide spread. that way you can drop the orb and send an orb to those players that over extend, while maintaining healing. she only needs her damage beam to regen heals. dam orbs are useless almost if the enemy team aren’t braindead and stay there
