A possible solution to queue times

The dev blog talks about the transition to 5v5 being because of DPS queue times.

Has anyone ever considered giving them their own game mode?

Just make 5v5 where you can only pick DPS heros, and then ramp up the healing passive.

Then they have their Call of OverWatch of Duty, and we could have our class based team shooter.

Dps players dont want an all dps queue…they want a balanced game mode where someone else ensures that it’s balanced for them

Ie - “of course I want a tank/support…I just don’t want to be the one that plays them”

It’s not unlike the whole 222 thing….i guarantee you a ton of the people pining for 6v6 aren’t people that are going to be playing the tanks they want themselves

Exactly this. 222 dps queue times were through the roof. Pre role queue every match boiled down to who rolled the most teammates willing to build a viable team comp, as opposed to 5 dps and a Mercy.

Well I went from all roles in ow1, to only DPS/support up until season 9, then only DPS for a month until I quit all together.

Maybe don’t make the heroes in the other roles boring af when they’re not dps style hybrids

Dps players would actually play the other roles if they released fun pew pew heroes and not mindnunbing garbage like Mauga and Lifeweaver

Maugas identity is literally pew pew, shoot everything forever, and never need to reload.

If he’s only firing 1 gun at range, he can go 30 seconds between reloads, and his only abilities are to run in, pop self heal, then shoot things with both guns.

Dynamic pew pew heroes, something like Baptiste

Mauga’s gameplay loop is just one continuous stomach ache fart noise

Yeah they can’t all be junker Queens, even though I feel like she’s the best designed tank released in OverWatch 2

Balanced game for dps is 1 which they are overwhelmingly domminating with little to no effort…

this used to be what team deathmatch and open queue were, but since tanks got gigabuffed, now whenever you start popping off someone swaps tank and griefs you all game.

According to the graph in the last dev blog, the current ratio of players is roughly two DPS players for every one support, and two support players for every one tank.

If all DPS players decide to queue for this new mode instead, then there will be no remaining DPS players for the 1-2-2.

If the game mode turns out to be bad, no one will queue for it and the ratio will remain the same in 1-2-2.

There are already “DPS-friendly” modes, like deathmatch and other arcade modes.

Also, who told you that DPS players want to face each other? Part of the appeal of the DPS role is that they are supposed to be the killers, hunting other squishies and bursting tanks.
