Why are people not allowed to pick what modes they want to play in quickplay?
While I myself don’t have an issue with any specific gamemode I’ve seen plenty of threads on the forums about “X” gamemode is terrible. Usually 2CP or Push.
You will always find people that hate Push,
You will always find people that hate Control,
You will always find people that hate Hybrid,
etc…
Why not just give people the option when entering quickplay to select what modes they like and let them search for matches on just those modes?
So if I wanted to only play control and payload I could just select those two gamemodes and know I wont get any push maps.

Because devs are still full of fear over q times since role lock was made.

My only guess is that it would reveal too many flaws such as obvious dislikes for specific maps or the fact Push would have nobody in the que because it is the worst gamemode they’ve introduced ever
Joking aside, i do think it’d split que times and seeing as Overwatch is a dwindling community they don’t want anymore que time problems as it is.
they already took east servers away and doubled my ping, and my queue times have doubled, please dont ask blizzard to split the playerbase up even more.
There are not enough people playing to sub-divide the player base further based on what maps people prefer.
A map-vote system would only work if people were going to stick together for longer than a single game.
Right here. Hate that and payload maps. Always have since the beginning of OW1, was pretty much just playing for KotH.
Dunno. This is usually part of my default response to people wanting leaver penalties. I’m guessing that they’re worried about queue times for unpopular maps, but I would argue that at least the people who like those maps actually are grouped with/against those that also want to play on them.
I didn’t like 2cp, but plenty did. Perhaps this would’ve been better than removing them entirely…
Letting everyone avoid control maps would solve backfills.

But then it would make them aware of maps that could be improved. Just like the levels of dislike paris or horizon got.
I actually really like push.
I’d have thought it might bring some people back if they didn’t have to play maps they didn’t like. Which would in turn help queue times.
Then they should take out unpopular maps and try to figure out “why” they’re unpopular.
Unpopular maps are one of the reasons people leave as soon as they join a match.
Because Unranked QP is supposed to be the “big” pool of players that play anything. For more specific types of matches, there’s Arcade/Customs.
