it’s rather problematic because they are at a skill level where if they use a gun they are going to be ranked high enough for long queue times, but they don’t want to play anything but dps (don’t know if that’s for views or just personal feelings).
Regardless it’s quite obvious when they take out new characters and refuse to aim or try to get kills for a dozen matches and then just play 1 or 2 on their main character that their goal is to drop into ranks where they can play more often.
not an easy to solve problem either

Just to clarify, these players, undoubtedly very good ones; typically play DPS roles and because the player base is too small at their elo (Master / GM / T500), they are trying to drop to platinum and lower so that they can play DPS?

I could definitely see a lot of smurf accounts being made just to play at levels where queue times are practically nonexistent. It’s definitely gonna be an issue.
yep. basically GM/T500 trying to drop into at least master for queue times. I bet there are similar cases for master tier players.
sigh you can’t solve this player base. especially when streamers have money on the line as well

Indeed, Ravelyn (hello, btw).
Thanks for the clarification.
From the way i see it, this creates 2 issues right?
Throwing at high elo games and smurfing in elos where these players do not belong…
/sigh

This might create shockwaves form the higher into the lower ranks, namly that people that wouldn’t normally lose will be deranked multiple times because of smurfs, creating more imbalanced games for the lower ranks resulting in steamrolls.

The game is good enough at detecting if you’re at a level that is much lower than where you should be (at least above a certain threshold). This won’t be as bad of an issue because it will be very infrequent.
The issue resides when mid-tier players (gold / plat) get dropped to low-tier games (bronze / silver), where the mechanical skill gap can be much larger but because the rest of the team is playing in some random way, you end up losing a large number of matches and the game can’t give you SR in a way that would allow you to be removed from this rank faster (meaning it is easier to maintain your rank lower than it should be)
that said I’ve been having the best games of my life in mid-upper plat lately. maybe i’ll finally hit diamond on my lucio account. but even if not, the last two games alone are probably better than I’ve had in OW for like a year. I think role queue has improved game quality by a lot, but dps players won’t want to play healers/tank unless they feel like they have high aim requirements probably…
just play some baptiste seriously…tanks have it worst as their design barely requires aim on zarya and the tank that requires good aim, wrecking ball, isn’t very viable on defense.
I mean I kind of understand how they feel. the longer you play this game, the more the basic game sense requirement gets met and you realize the biggest gap between you and the people beating you is your aim. so then you want to practice your aim of course, not hold a shield. from the game designer’s perspective they want to make interesting unique heroes, but from the high rank player’s perspective they just want more hitscan options on tank/healer:\
the game is good at detecting them if they try. but if they throw for 50 matches and then tryhard for 2-3 I don’ think it gives them back the MMR they lost. once they get where they want, they will just try to maintain 50% win rate

Yes, i do believe that you could be right. Trickle down effect.
Well, guess we shall have to see.
That is nice to hear, Rave. Very nice.
Nothing is perfect and of course, 2/2/2 would not solve all the issues inherent in Competitive E-games like OW.
I am glad that whilst there are (teething) issues, peeps like yourself are enjoying the game and more so than before.
Personally, although i am now in Bronze, i do share similar sentiments. Games run a smoother now, as a Tanker, i die a lot less and am actually living long enough due to having proper Healers (most of the time) to record Gold Elimins (!) and have been gotten from 1043 SR after placements just 2 days ago to 1240 in less than or about 10 games.
Personally, i realised an interesting side effect from a narrow Win yesterday.
We were on Defense on Route 66 and the Reds are like 5m from the 3rd checkpoint. We were not getting enough Elimins.
Last time, i would have switched to a DPS and tried to get some (to good success) but due to Role Lock, i could not.
So quickly considering the situation and options, my team had a DPS Moira and a Zen), i went Hog. Managed to get 4 kills immediately out of spawn and self-healed myself all the way. Died, came out of spawn, killed Reaper. Ult charged up and went Whole Hog to 3 more kills.
So it is great. If i had gone to a DPS like last time, my team may have suffered for it but now, it realigns my strategies. Interesting, to say the least.

yeah to be honest, the lower rank you are the better hog is. honestly at those ranks they need both dps and tank, so swapping off tank to give more dps is less likely to result in a win than just swapping to a tank that has good dps, assuming you know how to play that tank. This should motivate people to expand their knowledge of their class.
I too have had a similar exp, I normally play baptiste ana on one account and lucio only on another account. However, I realized that we very clearly would lose from lack of dps and swapped to zen. Finally learning zen due to necessity. I could probably carry as baptiste too when we need dps, but zen has always been the best sup option for upping damage and getting kills. I just didn’t like his projectile, so I never bothered to learn him
both sup and tanks have options to get more dps. the issue is that people either don’t know how to or don’t want to play those options and instead blame their dps for not being better than the enemy team. But you really shouldn’t be expecting to get carried to a higher rank.
I climbed like 150 today on lucio, but I got carried one game, and had to carry worse teammates 2 games. the remaining games my teams seemed roughly the same skill as me (best type of game cause you can rely on your team more, but you aren’t feeding).
if you go into competitive, you kind of need to have the mindset of I’m going to carry and just focus on yourself.
that’s why the longer I play this game, the more quickplay and team deathmatch I play. If I’m tired after work, going into ranked is an autoloss

I’d be surprised if they are going to throw games for 4 hours so they can play 30 mins of shorter queues. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

They throw for four hours once. Then at desired rank they throw a majority of games to defeat pbsr.
I’ve seen throwers get 70% KP in games and still manage to lose as they throw then emote and go afk at key moments.
You can get four golds and potg, but be throwing for sure.

Still waiting on just one example. Any video of this going on. Just one.
you do realize you get forum banned for calling out specific people online:\

Yep. I got forum banned for a week for exposing two throwing scumbags.
Still, if it’s streamers doing it then they will get banned.
If it’s obscure people throwing nothing ever gets done.

I’ve been looking for proof for a full 10 minutes now. I’m not finding anything concrete. I’ll just have to believe the innuendo.
People are not going to wait an hour for a q time lol.
Which ranks? I have 7-10 minutes long queue times in gold as dps.
