A little reminder on why the new D.VA buff was made

So much better now. Thank you Blizzard.

the change doesn’t really help with staggers

Yeah. I just means D.Va now potentially has a way to give them the middle finger if they execute the stagger badly.

1st clip: Her only opportunity to get kills with the new buff was when Brig, Lucio and Zarya were right beside her right as her team started engaging. Zarya won’t die, Lucio won’t get hit and Brig can block the damage or interrupt the case with the shield. The buff wouldn’t have saved her.

2nd clip: Exact same story except with Rein instead of Zarya. Buff wouldn’t have helped at all.

3rd clip: Consistently being CCed/walled off. No actual body blocking occuring at all here. Her only chance to get a kill with the ult would have been on the Mei, but Mei has Cryo to protect herself. Or, she could have just killed the Dva instantly since Dva was on like 35-40 HP when the opportunity arose. Buff wouldn’t have saved her.

4th clip: Same again. Brigitte stun, or anyone melee to finish her off if she tries to go for remech. Buff wouldn’t have saved her.

5th clip: Again, no body blocking. Walls, slows and Halts keeping her from killing herself. No one even had to go near her. Buff wouldn’t have saved her.

Yeah, so much better now. Thank you Blizzard. This buff is great. Now staggering Dva is exactly the same as before…? so much harder

The D.VA buff was a powercreep response to a defensive problem. The same thing Blizz does over and over again to turn this game into Brawlerwatch.

It forces them to kill her faster for less of a stagger which is positive

No, it doesn’t. In none of the clips I mentioned, would they have been forced to kill her if she had had the buff.

In 3 of the first 5 clips, Brigitte just stuns her out of her ult. Dva is still stuck being staggered for another 10 seconds if she tries to call mech, and they get an additional 600 HP worth of ult charge + maybe some ult charge from healing a tank that may have taken some damage.

In the 2 other clips, no one was in danger of dying even if she got her ult because the stall tactic focused on walling off the path and long-CC chain. No one was even in range to be hit. I only dissected the first 5 clips, but in none of those 5 clips were any of the stallers ever in danger of Dva, nor would they be if she did 138324232525289352835628956 damage on her Call mech.

You can still take your time staggering Dva, because stalling just about never requires heroes with 250 HP or less standing next to Dva. So she just about never poses a threat to the team stalling her.

Didn’t really fix any of the issue… but it’s fun I guess.

Just wait till a team in overwatch league wins a map off of getting a Call Mech multikill. It’s only a matter of time.

It does kind of. Now that call mech is kind of a threat teams are more likely to try to finish baby D.Va off early rather than wait for a stagger. There are of course situations where that doesn’t matter, but it nudges her in that direction. I do like that they made her baby “ult” into a potential mini ult itself, it adds a lot of flavor, but I think to really help with staggers they need to make baby D.Va’s blaster give ult charge to both call mech and bomb.

The stagger change doesn’t really help her out, sure it can be a threat but it just makes teams step a little farther, and for example in this current meta you run mcree/hanzo/mei. Those characters especially hanzo and mcree can mow her down before she gets away. Personally I would make it so she would be invincible during her re mech animation, but who knows I’m not a dva expert.

I’m not saying it completely solves her stagger problem. I’m saying it helps. If there’s a baby D.Va in the middle of your team and you’re mopping up a couple of the others before you take care of her then that becomes more dangerous now. It used to be that you might even plan around letting her remech so you can farm the mech and draw the stagger out longer. Now that’s a bit less likely.

It doesn’t help against staggering in the slightest.

It’s a noob trap for meme kills (that rarely ever happen) and sometimes nets you a random kill in a chaotic teamfight that you somehow survive until you can remch.

If they really want to put a stop to staggering, then they have to do it like this:

Every 10% “Call Mech” ult charge Baby D.Va has while dying reduces the respawn timer by 1 second.

If they want to end staggerwatch, they should’ve give dva an option to use a button to remech back to spawn if she is in baby dva form for more than x seconds (put a reasonable number on x).

Always punish the ones who stagger you. Whether it’s getting that kill with the gun, or if it’s slamming the mech down to crush them.

All they need to do is stay further away from her. Or stun her. I don’t mind the change, but it doesn’t really affect staggering.
