A gorgeous Mercy skin concept that would be perfect for a Valentine's Day challenge event!

Look at it! The person who created this did a phenomenal job and the skin would be perfect for a Valentine’s Day event since they haven’t done one already; plus it’s a great alternative for players who didn’t have the chance to get Pink Mercy to have another one with the same vibe (albeit without special effects or pink wings). We have to make it happen! It would be adorable!

They can’t really use fan made skins for copyright reasons.

I mean, I am sure the person who posted it wouldn’t mind giving permission to the designer team, as they literally imply they would want their idea used and implemented in the game; plus I’ve already seen some concepts being turned into actual skins, for example Hanzo’s last legendary, Dai Tengu. Even if they don’t end up creating the exact same one though, a valentine Mercy skin for a Valentine’s day event would be amazing nonetheless.

Its a shame really, cos its a nice skin.

There was a game i played years ago and then hosted a skin competition and the winner had their design made into the game.

By the time Blizzard is finished paying off a legal team to draft a contract and transfer the rights to the design, and by the time they’ve paid off the artist a sufficient one-time fee to avoid being stuck with a messy and expensive royalty situation… they could have just paid their own concept artists to design a dozen skins.

That’s why generally when you see fan-made designs making it into video games it’s usually a publicity stunt first and foremost (eg; contests, designs made by terminally ill children) or it’s within the context of some larger community-maker framework like Steam’s workshop or Bethesda’s Creation Club, where most of the legal legwork is done and neither creators nor consumers have many rights.

(Also, considering the amount of pushback we’ve seen about even the possibility of re-releasing Pink Mercy as another limited charity event, I suspect that adding a free skin that is so visually similar to Pink Mercy would not go over well.)

Attractive design as it may be, Mercy really doesn’t need any more limited skins any time soon.

Also, giving anyone a Valentine skin before Hanzo would be a crime against humanity.

While well done, it comes off as kind of a knock-off Pink Mercy skin, imo. Looks too similar at a glance.

It’s cool that people are talented enough to create things like that, though. Not trying to give the artist flak or anything - I just think it looks too similar and would be taken as a knock-off.

Still, I don’t think Blizzard wants to pay anything. Hell, from what’s leaked they hardly like to pay their own employees.

As an artist, they would either want some form of payment or in-game acknowledgement who designed the skin. Just signing over rights to some art design without payment or credit to a company the size of Blizzard isn’t something people do.

Except for the times they totally have made fanmade skins.

It’s just a matter of reaching out to the artist and signing the rights over for a fee.

No thanks for me, I dislike adding more cutesy skins for mercy. I rather have more serious skin like an combat medic skin based of of soldier 76 alpine skin or Trauma Team from cyberpunk 2077.

Basically a practical futuristic medic skin

I feel if they ever did a valentines day challenge week then hanzo would make more sense, cause you know…Cupid

How long has it been since you looked at pink mercy

YES PLEASE I’D PAY FOR THIS

This was what I thought too. It’s an amazing skin but very close to pink Mercy…

Y’all just mad because Hanzo deserves that Cupid skin instead. :kissing_heart:

Agreed. I dont mind them being feminine. But I’m kind of over the extreme cutesy ness. Atlantic, pink, witch… I get it. Mercy is lady. Can she also be a doctor? Can she be Angela Zeigler for a bit?

I like it, I don’t understand the elf ears, but still great concept!!

That’s literally just Pink Mercy with different hair? Blizz isn’t going to make a skin like that

She literally has a Combat Medic and a Doctor skin, there’s not many flavors of Doctor you can make before it gets stale

Not to mention all her epics have her base medic aesthetic and her upcoming OW2 skin is very combat-medic looking.

Let us get interesting and cool skins, please. There’s a reason skins like Witch and Pink are so popular, Mercy’s fantasy and kit is much more “angel” then it is necessarily “doctor”. The magic side of the character in the FPS game is what draws in a lot of her players.
