A Glorious HONOR System!⭐

While I disagree with much of what you’re saying, this is a good point. Having tangible rewards (even as small as a spray or voiceline) might cause people to behave in a way counter to the intention of the system.

I don’t think the system really needs any rewards, though. It should work just fine without that, as the reputation you gain is (for the sort of people who would care about the honor system) reward enough on its own.

I’d be happy with no rewards as well. HONOR IS IT’S OWN REWARD!

It is a very good idea, it would certainly be good to reward players who have good conduct.

It is one of the best suggestions ever made, especially since most of the posts here are of repeated and useless topics, baseless opinions, mediocre discussions, players crying without plausible arguments.

I hope Blizzard sees this and thinks something.

PS: Another thing that is not in the game and I think it’s absurd, is the result of the contributions of the players at the end of the match, Kill / Death / Assist / General Damage etc.

Many players like to say that they did everything on their own in the match, but the lack of this information hides the truth.

Putting anything like this in the hands of other players is guaranteed to be abused. There is no effective way to implement such a thing.

I offered suggestions in my original post on how it can not be abused. Several suggestions in fact.

You mention a couple specific use cases. There are plenty more ways to circumvent any of the ways you talked about.

Regardless anything that promotes an individual is just used as a popularity contest. I find that pretty obnoxious about karma systems. I get that you desire to be popular, but I would rather leave that out of the game.

After picking up League, I couldn’t help wonder why Overwatch doesn’t have some kind of Honor system. It would be great if after multiple seasons, say 3, players who consistently scored extremely low on honor could head to their own queue to deal with each other, leaving everyone else with higher quality games.

How would rewards work if Honor resets? While I do like the idea of it keeping track of it seasonally I think it would be nice to have a grand total displayed somewhere, if you see they haven’t gotten any this season you’ll still know they may not be as honorable as they were in the past but the total will still be there to reflect on.

I’m surprised there isn’t an honor system already. However, those in groups can’t give honor to their own groupmates (to prevent friends from just spamming each other). This way… When actually good/honorable players get reported and they see there’s tons of honor on their record - Blizzard can just chalk it up to salty/toxic crybabies mass reporting for no reason.

It’d be nice if the honor was displayed under one’s stars in the tab screen (can be toggled off per viewer to keep the old style if they want). It’d be a type of encouragement to not be a ****. People do like bigger numbers, after all.

Also it’d be +1s, no -1s. So this way it wouldn’t be like the old forum, but like the new one instead.

Im a Reaper and now Im triggered

Would something like this be hard for the devs to create? That’s really my only question.

I dont know but i guess it depends on how complex and big the honor system should be.

Imagine a clan full of Honor! I would want to join that clan!

Reinhardt only clan? lol

People say it works in League of Legends. All i hear about that game is, that it is the biggest salt mine ever and everyone there is toxic. So why does it work there but cant in Overwatch?

Where’s Daddy Jeff? We want to hear what he thinks about this!

The implementation on LoL differs in various methods from what the OP has suggested.

OP here, I’m not familiar with LoL, so lets just try to keep the discussion going on how things “could” work for Overwatch. I respect people adding to the conversation instead of saying:

Won’t work lol, too bad, so sad…

If it won’t work, explain what part of the original post is flawed, and how could it be improved. That will at least be contributing to the discussion.

Ok sure they dont have to take exactly the system RichC posted here. The devs would of course change it so it fits the game better and works in their opinion.

Alright how about the votes at the end of each match? I mean they are kinda pointless at the moment. A lot of people even leave before the cards and everything but what if it would show the stats from your own team and you could then vote for one person? There is no real abuse to it you either vote or you dont.
You could see important stats to see who performed well and if they were a decent human being aswell during the match you just give them a vote.

I think that this system is pretty niffty, but I think it should be restricted to players you have played with. It would be counterproductive if you had a popular player ( ie. streamer/Youtuber) get Honors by fans when it is not justly deserved.

This is one of the most AMAZING IDEAS EVER ON THE FORUMS!!! Well done! This would be an amazing feature! You need to contact Jeff Kaplan somehow about this!!

Upon reflection, I think this would be better as a ‘kudos’ system where you either rate the player or you don’t.

By giving stars, as several people have pointed out, it’s open to abuse.

By having a binary system (either you vote or you don’t) the player naturally gains +1’s over time.

I don’t want a binary system, the stars only show positive reports. You can’t leave anything negative in an Honor System.

If we had this it’d definitely make me strive to be a more positive player. The longer I play this game the less positive I get. :pensive:
