If you’re a DPS who refuses to switch that’s minding your own business and does not demand other people fill for you, then this is not directed towards you. You do your thing, you beautiful person you.
But the ones who instant lock DPS then proceed to demand other people fill or switch for you: why don’t you yourself fill? Why do you demand others fill for you instead of helping fix the problem?
I’m genuinely curious what the reasoning is. Every time I ask I’m met with silence. The very rare occurences I do get a answer its usually “but I got golds” and we inevitably lose the round because their golds didn’t carry us to victory.
Someone fill me in

This is news to me; I’ve never met you before in my life.

For me personally, it’s because I am tired of filling. Sometimes, I want others to fill for me.

Because I wouldn’t be as effective in that role.
It’s not like I just picked up the game last week… I’ve been playing OW for 2 years.

real question is why do alot of people pick a healer/tank then switch to dps after their first death and complain that no one is healing/tanking, or after the first team wipe both healers/tanks swap to dps and complain that we dont have any healers or tanks. or the thing that always bogs my mind the most when someone picks widow says in voice “if i dont do well i’ll switch” then proceeds to not get a single kill and gets countered the entire match and never switches off widow once then tries to act as if their the only good player on the team and its everyones fault except theirs that we lost.

I used to pick Torbjorn and say nothing on my Torbjorn one trick only hammer account that I don’t create yet.
how do you play for 2 years and not be good with at least 2 heroes from each category?

Probably because they’re not good at support/tank or don’t want to deal with the responsibility of either. Or both.
and they won’t ever get better because of that as well. Not the best reasoning.
Just saying.

Because just the fact that we need a tank doesn’t magically make me able to play tank effectively.

They might also not find either fun to play; tanks more often fall into this category. Tanks in particular are not straight-forward at all.
Sure, not finding fun to play. That’s up to them, they’re not going to have it easy. But whatever.
Not being straight forward, sure that’s with most heroes at first glance. The more you play them, the more you’ll / they’ll understand them.
by not taking an interest in them?

I am gonna play devils advocate now. I know my capabilities and preferences and I know if I pick Rein or Sniper I will just drag my team down. I guess it is same for them they recognise problem and know they cant remedy it (It is better to have alive Soldier rather than dead Rein) so they ask others to do something.
In QP I might switch to characters I am not good at since I dont lose anything while doing that. Other than my fun… But still, it is occasion to learn.
Not replicable in Competetive.
If you play the game for fun, you play heroes you enjoy. If you don’t enjoy tanks, you’ll have little practice on them and not be good at them.
Also, what’s my reward for getting better at tanking? Having to play them more? Yeah, no, I’ll pass. A higher SR would not be worth it.
This feels oddly like every moira main I’ve met
