A fix to widow without losing identity

We learned the hard way that widow is obnoxious, one of the the worsts designs in ow

IF widow really needs the one shot we can make a change to make it less infuriating

The problem with widow and hanzo is that you can just stop your crosshair in place and wait for people to pass and then click, this is not skill, we should reward good widows, with flickering skills

Lets give widow scope a cosmetic laser, that goes infinite range, telling where she is aiming

Now you have the information to not go to that laser, making widow much more skilled like some players claim

wouldn’t mind that since most people who play against her in higher skill levels have that laser mentally there anyway the moment they’ve seen her once and not just walk like an npc

I would actually like that, because flicks would look so sick and some people would think you aren’t aiming at them.

my idea was to limit the time you can remain scoped and kick you out of scope after a short while.

Information doesn’t matter. You usually know what angle Widow is holding on sniper maps. That just doesn’t change the fact that you can’t contest it

… what? Yeah no. 2 things:

1 - This change would make widow literally unplayable in any rank above Gold, where people actually have eyes and see the laser.

2 - In ranks below Plat, people that have zero awareness will still miss this detail and get headshotted anyway.

Actually not too bad a suggestion.

In upper ranks people mentally take note of the giant laser that already comes out of hr gun when she shoots, and have enough map knowledge to know where shes at and where shes looking to position themselves properly. Also they will call out her position.

But i cant see metal ranks doing any of thay, especially since blizz killed voicechat.

Also, widow can only snipe 1 target at a time. With long bullet recharg. Just coordinate a push altogether ffs. Oh right, no voicechat, metal rank…forgot.

I personally don’t find widow much of an issue, I’m gold, players here can’t aim consistently. But this idea is actually good imo, makes her easier to counter play instead of just counter swapping to sombra (the actual worst designed hero in the game :p)

The moment you said hanzo… the post became a useless post and provided no value. Hanzo is THE SECOND weakest character after genji. They have been nerfed into the ground before ow2 and in OW2 never were balanced for the game.

Hanzo is unable to provide value “pointing down crosshairs”. It’s a geometrical pattern and practice that takes skill to aim at moving targets of different heights and health pools. He is easily dive-able and has less ability to disengage from a dive unlike widow. Not to mention the charge time for the arrow(which by the way they increased for no apparent reason but to make him more weak).

The storm arrow ability has been the problem due to the fact it can spam which is a crap ability for everyone. A shield piercing/wall arrow(only 1) with a 10 second cool down or an explosive arrow makes more sense than that.

Honestly, just make widow projectile with bullet drop. If we need to keep her one shot to ‘preserve her identity’ then get rid of ‘hitscan one shot’ and make it take real skill to hit shots

sombra, every time i play her, its crazy like im being box watched.

I remember this proposal from some older thread in the past. I like it but imo there should be a bit more. One idea is to look how other games do it:

  • slow fire rate, current Widow is still pretty fast
  • random sway
  • bullet travel time
  • bullet gravity
  • slower ADS

Of course this would be more like a military shooter and odd for Overwatch.
