800 dpi - sensitivity

Could someone explain this setting that apparently 90% of the pros use? When I set my Logitech mouse to 800 dpi I can barely move the mouse across the screen, like I have to drag it 3 times to get it from one side of the screen to the other. This can’t be right.

Is there sensitivity at like 100 or something? lol

Look up the in windows the general mouse settings. Search for the option “pointer speed” and set it to the middel value.

I use 800dpi with a 6.7 Overwatch sense. Using a 15 inch mouse pad it is quite comfortable for me to move around both game and desktop. You get used to it after a while I guess.

Yeah mine’s in the middle but I can’t comfortably navigate windows with anything under about 1200dpi

Weird, I use 400dpi and can use windows normally.

But at least you can use everything normally when you just use higher dpi

You should look for the method of Perfect Sensitivity Approximation, with it i changed my 960DPI@4.8 to 960DPI@7.3, and the things got somehow better.

When I was plat I had like 2000 DPI and 11 sens and used my wrist only for aiming.
Eventually, I lowered it to 800 DPI and 5 sens and used my arm for major movements and wrist for fine tuning/tracking. At first it felt SLOW slow, so I understand how you feel. I sucked for a while getting used to it but now it feels great and I’m in masters. Not saying that’s the only reason why I climbed, but if I still had that crazy high sens I would be plat still for sure.

Try pivoting from your elbow for large motions, like turning around and crosshair placement, and using your wrist for smaller motions like tracking/flicking. (Of course DPI and sensitivity is subjective, but if your settings are too high it can really, really affect your gameplay)

I use 1600 dpi with 2.38 sense. Which is equal to 800 and 4.76 sense.

I took me many weeks to get used to it, but it definitely helped. YMMV

800 dpi = 800 dots per inch.

With every ‘dot’ screen rotates for (0.0066 * sensitivity) degrees. Cant remember exact number.

Windows wise, 1 ‘dot’ equals 1 pixel if mouse sensitivity set to 6.
So moving mouse one inch will move the cursor 800 pixels.

Wait, I feel I mixed something wrong, but cant see where. Hangovering hard atm

Old school mice like those guys probably had growing up were usually 400 to 800 dpi. I think that’s why most use it.

You can run whatever you want dpi wise. Watch some videos read some threads where you will find more than you ever cared to know.

I wonder why all these new mice are coming out with 20K dpi if everybody uses 800.

dpi 800, in game sense 5. 800x5=4000. This is edpi. This is the number that matters. You can have 4000dpi and 1 in game and it will still = 4000 edpi and feel just the same.

It wont be same. 4000 * 1 and 800 * 5 both = 4000, but not same 4000.

I play 3200 dpi and sensitivity 1

Same actually.

op, Rocket Jump Ninja has tons of stuff about mice on a website and youtube.
