70% winrate, being reported and avoided all the time

Look, I am not toxic. It’s just the voice chat is non-existent, but sometimes I want to deliver a message. Since the UI team of OW is also non-existent, the voice command text and player text are the same color, so you type something, AND NOBODY SEES IT SO I HAVE TO WRITE IN CAPS sometimes.

And people get super toxic about this. I climbed from gold to diamond now cuz I took a week where I focused and played in good hours of my brain being fresh, and teammates just trash me every game. Why?

I discovered that a lot of games I lose on the tank because my dps (mostly) will just decide to do some crap and die somewhere over the rainbow in a far far galaxy. And they do this all the time, leaving us 4v5 permanently, which is just unwinnable. So, what I do, I use cap and say, ‘PLEASE DON’T DIE’ and this just makes so many people upset. Maybe because of caps, maybe because I point at their problem, it’s just, dude, am I wrong for wanting to win? Is it toxic to ask someone to stop feeding?

And you know what? It actually works. Many of them stop feeding and we end up winning much more. Very often they insult me, but they also stop feeding.

I had 34% winrate two seasons ago on my monkey while having 7 kills per life. Do you understand how crazy it is to have 7 kills per life in plat rank? Now I have 3 kills per life and I am near 70% winrate with almost all the tanks. All because I use caps and ask people to stop feeding. I get so much hate for this, but it freaking works!

Lemme guess, you main a Tank that doesn’t have a barrier, or a bubble.

mfw trying to learn Doom

Maybe stop using caps as it commonly can mean yelling or anger?

I feel like you’re overestimating how much more noticeable uppercase is than lowercase.

If people are constantly reporting and avoiding him, OP is leaving out the important parts. Like the truth for example.

I’ve learned I just can’t play when people speak or order around/call shots. Every time someone is saying these things I play substantially worst. I don’t get why but they make call outs. Most the time nobody ever says where so you just hear a name and now have to assume where they are. And then I die. And the moment I turn it all off I perform substantially better. Some people don’t perform well when people talk. I know if someone sent me “PLEASE DON’T DIE” I’d sit there and play way worst while thinking I didn’t do it on purpose. But some people want to flank rather than shoot through 50 special effects.

I would suggest you don’t use caps even if it grabs their attention. Probably avoid saying it all together. I’d be lying if I didn’t tell my feeding team mates to stop dying lol

So you are using a new tank hack? Can you share it with the rest of us so maybe we can win some games??

This is annoying to me, too. I think that’s why people choose match chat so often, not to publicly flame their team but because it’s the only way anyone reads it. Blue text makes no sense.

Well, let me put it this way. Let’s say you’re running with some strangers. You trip a few times. And instead of asking if you’re okay, or trying to provide actual help, one of your them is just like

“Please don’t trip”

Like… It’s not exactly helpful. They know they’re dying.

Or another situation:

Someone is running just fine, not tripping or anything, and then one of the people they’re running with just says “please don’t trip” in a genuine manner and keeps bringing it up and getting progressively more aggressive over time.

That just makes the situation frustrating for everyone involved.

Way back in the day in OW1 I was suspended for throwing right after the game when I first reached masters. I saw the promotion screen then boom.

Yes, according to Blizzard and my teammates I threw my way to my (at the time) all time peak.

Don’t try to make sense of it :man_shrugging:

The mystery has been solved.

Also ppl in general don’t want to be told what to do by someone who is in the same elo anyway.

People in general, especially gamers online, I’ve noticed tend to more and more suffer from Oppositional Defiance Disorder. The more you try to tell them to do something, the more they’re gonna do the exact opposite, purely to be oppositional.

It’s amazingly prevalent for some reason in Overwatch too. If you have someone who charges in blindly with Reinhardt and you recommend they don’t do that, and instead group up before pushing, they will never again do anything except reckless charge.

If you are winning, why would anyone avoid you or report you? Weird.

I’m not sure anything good comes out of communicating in game anymore. I wouldn’t bother doing callouts.

I highly ddoubt that you typing in caps is why you all the sudden win. If thats the case, what do GM and T500 do. Type in double caps? Your theory doesnt work. You just decided to get better at a hero and made better decisions than your enemy team. I ranked up the same as you. I turned off comms and text chat. So i guess that debunks your claim. :person_shrugging:

The thing about truth is everyone has their own truth now.

Amusingly enough I never saw these things while 1 tricking the hell out of doom.

1200 hours in this game- Ive never so much as received even a “warning”.

Until i started learning mauga recently. Been maining him for a week’ish learning his ups/downs, how it feels to go into his good and back match ups, etc.

i received 2 warnings in 2 days, and by the end of the 2nd day i was chat banned. Im admittedly bad on mauga- and im hardly an “angel”, but 99% of what i say in game is literally “gg o/”, joking with fellow players, or praising people who did good.

Recently had one of those games where it was “SHXT TANK!!” “TANK DIFF!” etc- all from some player with like 2 elims and 12 deaths (I was basically the opposite, with more damage than both dps combined. as always take that with a grain of salt). My ingame response was “lol 2 and 12”

Been eye opening playing mauga
Got an immediate friend response- you know exactly how its going to go. but figured why not

This is how that conversation went
