I would say season 9 will be ‘make or break’ for this game… but I thought the same thing back during the season where they introduced the PvE, and here we are, still limping along.
Came here to say this. Sunk cost fallacy is a real thing, and even if god himself descended from the heavens and said “yeah y’all really should revert to 6v6,” I doubt Blizzard would do it. They would rather keep digging themselves deeper into the 5v5 hole.
If the S9 patch flops, I think it’s infinitely more likely that they’ll go on some crazy balancing spree than revert it.

The question is, fails what? What are they even trying to accomplish? Absolutely no one outside of OW nerds like us know a thing about what’s happening in S9.
Like any change people are guaranteed to both like it and dislike it. But where does that get them? Where are any new players coming from?? Does this change somehow sale more skins?
Are they just trying to stop a sinking ship for as long as humanly possible? The changes might be great, but I don’t see what that even does at this point. Maybe the live service model is just inherently broken.
Imagine if they’d just done a full OW2 release as a separate game including everything through S9 as part of the release. There’s no way they wouldn’t be way better off than they are now.

Well the saddest part is, they’re not controlled by bots but actual humans.
I’ve said many times there needs to be a feature on this forum to filter out all posts by a user with over number of posts. Never read a good take from a forum addict with 5k+ posts here.

Exactly. Nobody wants to play tank because solo tank has made things incredibly boring. The positive changes cant even shine in ow2 because of this
Eh, I don’t find it boring, not anymore than before. People must have found it boring even back in 6v6 considering no one played it, those were always the fastest queues depending on the season and meta next to support

That affected it too but even before 2019 it was a problem. I remember during the goats era it frustrated people that it was meta and it was hard to get enough tanks (or support) if you wanted to do it in competitive. Most people opted to play DPS before role queue. I also think if a lot of people quit during a content drought then perhaps the game wasn’t that solid enough without it. Still, even during that drought, people hated dealing with double shields and other tank based metas too, but despite being meta it still was hard to fill in the queues. I managed to stick around to keep playing tank but idk I like to no life games lol I will say I do miss off tanking which got me through that time period
I don’t think so. Hardly anyone likes the tank role.
5v5 has to stay because tank synergy would be too unbalanced in 6v6 and no one wants to play tank, if they removed role lock and brought 6v6 back we would just have more goats/slambulance variants and the game would implode. We need to commit to 5v5 for better or worse.
5v5 isnt even that bad, i really don’t understand why people hate it so much. Tank has always sucked to play since they added brig, its not unique to 5v5. 5v5 makes that problem better because it means we can get more games with fewer masochistic tank mains
As much as I want 6v6 back it’s probably not going to happen. The likely situation is that Micro$oft is planning to phase OW out of existence by the middle of 2025.

Been around Blizzard a long time. One of their most consistant features is they never admit when they make a mistake. 6v6 is gone.
OW and its success were a fluke as is. They never planned for it to be as big as it became, it was doomed from the very beginning with the failure of the Titan MMO.
blizzard should make a questionnaire into the menu, but they wont because they know everyone or a majority of people do not like the changes they make for the players

Dude, 6v6 assets were removed. 6v6 returns in an only case, if they create it back from scratch, which may take another 4 years or so. So, stop coping on that 6v6 topic already.
Season 9 changes made that 6v6 dynamic applied via spreading 2nd tank’s hp over 5 players. So basically you get your stalewatch 6v6 back, congratz!
