Dew it and significantly nerf all of the powercreep with it.
We had 6v6, but nobody wanted to play tank, and requiring 4 of the least popular role to start a match was bad for queue times and match quality.
Think about how few people want to play tank now even though theyāre mostly killing machines. Their power would have to drop A LOT to have two of them per match. Why would people want to play them then? The problems we had at the end of 6v6 would be even worse now. I think people have short memories.
Ahh yes, the Game of the Year game nobody wanted to play since 2016 to 2022
It won Game of the Year before role queue. Queues were fast when you only needed 12 players regardless of role.
It was 2/2/2 that caused the issues that made 5v5 necessary.
Ah yes!
Letās ignore WHY nobody wanted to play tank + devs abandoning the game
There was never any reason for teams to require a tank in the first place. Part of the issue with open queue was GOATS, which was only a problem because DPS players had no place in it.
DPS players were mad because they felt forced to play GOATS, or they were forced to play 5-DPS comps, depending on which side of the ladder they ended up on.
If it wasnāt for the complaints of DPS players specifically, there would never have been any reason to implement role-queue.
And I didnt say bring back 2/2/2, I just want 6v6 back
Tank has always been the least popular role. Always, always. Whenever people think the game was at its best? Tank was the least popular role then, too. That didnāt become a problem until role lock, though.
We can have 6v6 or role lock, not both. I loved 6v6 before role lock, but most people didnāt. They wanted to play only the heroes they wanted to play, so here we are. Thereās zero chance of role lock going away, so thereās zero chance of 6v6 coming back.
What powercreep? The only thing that meaningfully changed from OW1 was tanks getting retooled for 5v5. And since plenty of OW1 picks that werenāt changed were hard meta in OW2, it didnāt have an impact on the power level on the game. Donāt use phrases you donāt know the meaning of.
Nobody wanted to play Tank because they were tired of being bullied by an abundance of CC. All they had to do was nerf the CC and so many people would have picked Tank back up.
Do you know how incredibly annoying it is trying to hold the front line and you get Flashbanged, Shield Bashed, Hacked or Frozen, Sleep Darted, Hooked, Charged, Punched, or Accretioned over and over again?
There was a reason why Rein/Zarya was the go to combo for awhile. It was one of the few ways to play without being put in a corner and told to sit there and think about what youād done.
Nobody played tank because the amount of CC was absurdā¦
We had 6v6 and the devs abandoned the game for 4 years while lying about working on a sequel*. I fixed it for you. If the game has ā100 million playersā then going back to 6v6 or simply adding it as an option should be a nonissue.
In fact, if they do go back they could prove they arenāt lying about having 100 million players since as far as I am concerned, thatās also yet another lie.
The games issues are not format issues. Itās hero kit balance and refusal to address the support role and how much it dictates the entire game.
What a silly and baseless argument. As if saying that game of the year for Overwatch meant there was a surplus of tank players in 6v6.
I didnāt say anything about 2/2/2, I said 6v6
Indeed
6v6 doesnt require any number of any role, including tanks
I mean judging from the dropping populations due to 20 minute queues to get into a game yes that seems accurate.
Blizzard has added a ton of powercreep into the game over the years, and most of it was added to the support role such as nade, immortality, and suzu.
The solution is Open Queue + Role Limits
No more infinite queues (that still exist after 5v5) and āgOaTsā will not be possible.
Glass cannon is more fun. But itās only fun when your ācannonā can kill things.
Absolutely. Only the tank role needs limits though, imo.
The game of the year that THEY abandon and the community started leaving ? That one ?
Stop pretending the game was in low terms in that era because of the players. Blizzard left it alone in the wild, and the players just switched to another one. Thatās it.
