Man, I’ve been playing Marvel Rivals and I’m having way more fun than I ever did with Overwatch lately. It’s honestly crazy how different it feels, even though on paper the games are super similar.
I keep telling my friends Marvel Rivals feels like Overwatch 1 back when it was actually good. And it’s not just because it’s something new. I’ve been playing hero shooters for years now. It’s more about how the game flows. Matches feel fairer one death doesn’t instantly throw the whole match anymore. You can actually recover if someone messes up or has a bad game, instead of feeling like you’re doomed the second something goes wrong in 5v5. It’s just less frustrating overall.
Queue times are faster too, so you’re actually playing more and waiting less, which helps a ton. Plus, the matches are way more dynamic there’s always something happening that keeps you locked in and wanting to play better. The game just feels right. Like, this is the way hero shooters were supposed to be played. Honestly, if they bring back two-point capture maps, it would be damn near perfect.
It also blows my mind that I’m already Diamond in Marvel Rivals but I’m stuck Gold 1 in Overwatch. Same player, same skills just a better game structure that actually lets you shine instead of getting dragged down by weird matchmaking or one bad fight ruining everything.
I just hope the devs and the community realize that sometimes the old ways were better and it’s okay to admit that. It’s how you actually make games fun again.
