The role is already struggling to to attract players. Reality check: people enjoy playing the heroes they’re good at, they don’t enjoy getting hard countered and being forced to switch to something they don’t want to play. Wtf do you think is going to happen when Marvel Rivals and Deadlock both allow tanks to play the heroes they want to play because 6v6 actually works? The role will take a hit the game cannot afford.
It doesn’t matter how much you buff tanks. The problem is tanks are forced to play things they don’t want to play. The role would legit be better if you turned tank picks into mystery heroes. That’s how much of a joke 5v5 is.

Can we stop pretending it isn’t just DPS players wanting to kill tanks easier (shocking) that want 6v6 back? Samito is at least somewhat transparent about it, saying “Tanks are killable in 6v6!” every 5 seconds he talks about 6v6, but even he muddies the waters pretending tank players would prefer to get hard nerfed and held hostage to another tank player, as if that’s “more fun”
If you think tanking is dead in 5v5, tanking would be fossilized in 6v6. No way I’m queueing tank if tanks got hard nerfed and I have to rely on the team chat muted Hog/Ball one tricks and getting told “tank diff” in chat because of something out of my control. At least if someone says “tank diff” in OW2 I can accept responsibility and won’t be annoyed by it. If I got outplayed if I got outplayed.
as compared to making the role even more stressful by making them stronger, further making the game a stomp or be stomped game? At least with two tank players it would be a lot less stressful.

Yes. Most people just stopped playing tank when it went to solo tanking. Solo tanking feels awful. Most tank mains have swapped roles, or quit the game, they’d come back in a heartbeat if we had a second tank again.
Honestly this last patch didn’t help. I HATE the tank changes in this patch. It was supposed to help save tanking, but it made it so much worse. I’d be happier if they just reverted the mid-season patch to be honest.
They have been going about balancing tank in all the wrong ways to make it fun. Ya what they did helped make them struggle less but it also made them even more bullet sponge which is what makes them unfun to play.
Not many tanks need major changes most already have some form of skilled ability/damage mitigation. They should be pushing into buffing that while nerfing health pools.
Armor changes do effect body shots less from high damage sources now so maybe that is it? Single shot heroes are pretty decent dealing damage to tanks now while tracking and shotguns do less. The lower damage to head shots should make it less burst and sudden though.
Its almost as if a couple of overpowered generalist tanks dont make up for not having 2 tank heroes in a team and the defensive tank tools that entails.
tank as a role needs to be demolished for this game to live, remove tank as a role option, bring back those theroes pre rq levels, then add them to dps, that’s it match quality improves.
Going 6v6 with rq needing 2-2-2 will kill the game, there is not enough tank players, never has been , never will be , its a baggage unfun role destroying the games identity and its other role heroes sucking all their fun. Mei lost her freeze cause these tank mains whined, ruined match quality, even ate one of their own, their greed and hunger has no ends they will gobble everything burp and whine for more, everything bad with this games has happened due to tank as a separate role.
They were never meant to be play as a compulsory role.
They need to go back to pre rq states to save the game.
How many times do we have to rebalance/rework or literally change every single character to try and force this format to work?

We’ve reworked nearly every single original cast tank and we still are calling for more
Tanks were GIGABUFFED coming into OW2 and have only been buffed again, and again, and again
Supports got hard buffed until they were oppressive just to try and keep themselves and tanks alive
Season 9 came, the hitboxes got bigger, the projectiles got bigger, DPS got their insane anti-healing passive, everyone got more health, and tanks got GIGABUFFED health
Tanks again just got a huge buff to reduce headshot damage and reduce knockback even more
5v5 defenders need to admit that this format is CAUSING problems that CANNOT be fixed by balance. Whether or not 6v6 ever comes back (I wish it would, but don’t believe it ever will) at what point do we look at ALL THE INSANE changes that have been done to make 5v5 work and realize it’s the problem.
Overwatch was a game DESIGNED to be 6v6. You can rework/rebalance/redo characters, passives, healthpools, hitboxes, etc all you want. It will never fix the FUNDAMENTAL problems with the format.
Like I said, I think deadlock and marvel rivals biggest threat to overwatch is stealing it’s tank community. Even a lot of dps/support mains prefer 6v6, but 5v5 is just objectively miserable for 99% of tank players and I honestly think the tank community will have a massive drop off after these games drop. THEN we will see blizz go back to 6v6 and beg for tank players back lol.
