I Preordered way back when Battleborn was competition(RIP) and tbh it was the most fun/balanced when focused on compared to all other iterations. Saw more heroes. Less stomps. Not having more than one at the tank role has always felt weird and restrictive. Then role queue was forced and i havent cared about the game as much since. And now i am just gonna play ow2 when there is a new hero then i move on. Since no pve now. Bad decisions have been made for a while now imo.
Ruined quickplay with challenges and nerfs. Forgot about the non role queue crowd entirely. This game gets more and more restrictive and less expensive
I read the title thinking it said âis on the wayâ and got excited.
I am now disappointed
I hope they bring it back
The least they could do is bring back overwatch 1 and its features
The Overwatch we knew and loved died in 2019 when they added RQ.
i know most support players donât agree, but i always had the absolute most fun possible in overwatch when i was solo healing a team of 5 dps. thatâs why i still hang in open queue to this day
It could work. Return tank health levels to what they were in OW1 â 500 for Rein; 400 Zarya, etc. â and let it loose for those who are pining for that âclassic Overwatchâ feeling, with the stipulation that heroes are mainly balanced for the 5v5 Role Queue format.
I want a 6v6 Role Queue mode. But at this point, I think we honestly need multiple nostalgia modes, even if officially unsupported.
- Bring back permanent (unsupported modes):
- 6v6 Role Queue
- 6v6 Open Queue
- 6v6 No Limits
- And go ahead: keep 5v5 Role Queue (supported mode)
Because the goal is to Make Everyone HappyTM.
Additionally: bring back non-purchasable lootboxes to reward the gameâs hard grinders.
This might be the only way to restore community faith without formally doubling down on developing PVE (with crunch time and all that).
Exactly my friend
Bring back ow1 as it was. Turn the servers on
AARON YOU STOLE FROM US
GIVE IT BACK
I WANNA PLAY MY OLD GAME
with less rock-scissors-paper game and more universal heroes we donât need role lock
open queue was bad because nobody actually wanted to play support and whoever did pick it did so begrudgingly. there were constant arguments about who plays what and I think without RQ I certainly wouldnât have stuck around
Role Queue was such a savior,
I remember the fear every damn time when I started a comp, to not get a tank (so to play tank myself for the 15th time in a row) or/and to get only one Zen and âitâs enoughâ.
RQ clearly divided the community, but for the better ++.
6v6 & 5v5 are some part different. I do think 5v5 is better for DPS and Healer viewpoint, tanks it depends some games, because if you get âtank diffâ itâs pretty hard to come back from that.
I just dont see the appeal in role queue and its overall restrictions
As a D.Va one-trick yearning for the Overwatch gameplay of 2018-2020, I want a guaranteed buddy tank and be guaranteed sufficient healing, which for her, very much requires a dedicated main healer, and that healer is going to need a buddy healer for keeping up healing the rest of our team. 3-4 DPS comps shut me down from playing my hero. It is why I celebrated and defended Role Queue when it was added to the game and why I want it back. Also, solo tanking as D.Va sucks in comparison. And more generally: solo tanking simply sucks compared to the fun of playing alongside a tank buddy in a balanced 2-2-2 team comp.
But I get it: some people want 5v5. Some want 6v6. Some want Role Queue. Some want just want the one-hero limit, and others want no limits at all. So I say bring on all modes. Give players the option to queue into the game mode they want to play.
Role Queue in OW1 made games much more balanced because you didnât see 6 DPS on 1 team, but it was at the cost of the queue time which also was around when OW1 started to decline.
I think OW2 strategy of releasing more heroes in the roles that are less popular should have been implemented in OW1 because then I think tanks would be far more popular. DPS already had like 3 times the amount of heroes to choose from so it just makes more sense to add more tanks and support to the game when there was so few of them to choose from in comparison.
6v6 open queue would literally just turn into goats yet again because dps are the weakest role in the game
One of the main reasons DPS has always had so many heroes in its roster was due to the role being originally split into âoffensiveâ and âdefensiveâ categories before it was all merged into a singular âdamageâ role. That is aside from it likely being more straightforward to design and balance a hero that just deals damage compared to something that is meant to either:
- soak up damage, take and hold space, and peel for their fellow teammates using some kind of barrier, a personal shield or self heal, or a unique shielding method that may be difficult to make and balance and is controversial to the community like "She ate muh ult!" Defense Matrix-like abilities and "Stop shooting it!!" Zarya bubble-like abilities
- heal their fellow teammates and provide some kind of supportive utility that also is difficult to design and balance.
Ya also we have had alot of heros move from other role to dps like sym doom and echo back in ow1
2/2/2 Role Q was the single best thing ever happening to this game and could have perfectly well coexisted with Open Q for whoever was masochistic enough to actually prefer it.
Unfortunately 5v5 not only made the game overall less fun, but also turned Open Q into an even bigger clown fiesta with the Tank changes.
I quit 7 month ago, because of how garbage 5v5 is.
Now with PvE canceled there is no point for me to ever return to this gameâŚ
Dude, I still remember solo healing three tanks in Rialto. Overwatch was a fun game in that eraâŚ
