6v6 isn’t bringing back OW

Hate to break it to you. 6v6 is not a big game changer for people to come back. Nor was nostalgia OW. The game needs a big event. Possibly PVE missions where you get a temporary talent tree amongst other stuff. A whole new set of skins that aren’t recolored, for every single hero. Stuff like that will bring in new or existing players again plus the obvious, good gameplay.

It COULD have worked. That was pre-Mahvel. At this point, they are going to need a lot more than skins that we cannot even enjoy in first person. I do not envy the developers. They have a difficult job. How do you make Reinhardt as cool as Mister Fantastic? That’s the real question they should be asking themselves.

I think most people just want more to do with the already cool existing ones we have

PvE will not bring players back long-term — good gameplay experience will.

PvE may be fun for a few days, maybe weeks, but the output of that content has to be constant and unique enough that there is a reason for people to play it every day for years on end.

We’ll see what S15 will bring for 5v5. For now, I will place my hopes in 6v6, the mode for which the tests brought me back logging hours of gameplay every week.

Oh I think it is. Because 6v6 is half of the equation.

The other half is the Mysterious Groundbreaking gamemode coming out Feb. That could be the key to the next evolution of OW2. 6v6 gameplay could be the foreshadowing of this new experience.

Going back or including 6v6 in OW2 is Overwatch healing itself.:green_heart::orange_heart::handshake:

That depends heavily on what kind of PvE they could make.
I’ve got 800 combined hours in Left 4 Dead 1+2 from when that came out back in 2008-09.

A lot of that was spent in the PvPvE multiplayer. Imagine playing through Archives Missions as the special sniper/assassin/tank types! A mission based 4v2+bots PvE would be great for me!

Another thing that could help is something that OW abandoned long ago: Custom Game Mode Spotlights.

People are creative and talented and have made some genuine bangers in custom games. I have spent huge amounts of my OW time playing the Eternal Arena, Eternal Dungeon, most of which are straight up PvE game modes that include Items, armor and upgrades. The issue is that these game modes are hard to find, and yield zero progression rewards.

Give these game modes OFFICIAL support! It’s free content!

Well ow is still here and will be here for years, sure it wont get same amount of players as it was during preMarvel times

But 6v6 isn’t what most people care about, as part of the forum community. I would say roughly 30% of the player base barely care about 6v6 or 5v5. Most want good gameplay, cinematics, stuff that’s new and not rehashed

Nothing is bringing back OW, nothing, ever.

Fortunately player base is big enough to allow developers to spend time on 6v6, even as arcade. I am a 6v6 enjoyer, I think it is more balanced, entertaining and funnier than 5v5.

I understand 6v6 can’t return cause:

  • there are not enough tank players
  • blizzard could not justify officially going back to 6v6 after ripping off so many players with pseudo Overwatch 2 whose biggest change was 5v5 and hero rework (also another engine I think and sound improvement players didn’t ask) and the most important thing a battle pass and a PvE that never made it to the game.

Basically Blizzard has lied and screwed up enough already, nailing each one of Overwatch coffin’s nails. Game is doomed at this point.

I hate to break it to you but I have comp only friends that haven’t played in about a year that have started playing again since the 6v6 comp news. Even I was surprised to see them pop up in Discord.

PvE missions are something entirely separate from the core game and personally I don’t feel like they’d add anything I’d be interested in. There are so many other, more polished rpg offerings out there. The most soulless feeling the game has had for me is playing PvE.

Skins really aint it either. Having a cool skin isn’t going to bring OW hype back.

In all honesty, the only way they win people back is by making the game fun again and actually giving a damn about the players. They need to focus making actual tangible content for the game like , maps heroes, frequent balance and a return to tight tolerance and accuracy.

They need to make the actual gameplay feel tight and competitive and fresh again. That is what makes people want to play. Not a skin or a glorified practice range with a poorly written narrative.
