6v6 - 26 games, 14 wins, 1 stomp, and 1 full hold

https://imgur.com/a/DjkuN2p
the average Game duration is on 8min 50sec

I have never seen such balanced state of the game since 2020

I’m seeing GMs and top500 while Solo Queueing

And beyond that, yes, All games are swety as hell; with epic come backs and all those things.
And this is happening:
Because people can now adapt and turn around the result.
Because we don’t need to fall back the moment a teammate dies.
Because now it is possible to hold the position, rotate resources, and reject the enemy from the point

We have 1 more tank not only for the team, but specially for the other Tank.
If the other guy can’t deal with certain characters, certain maps, certain situations… there is another variable now

It means that Tanks can now back up eachother.

Which is, and always was, the intended design for the game

But most importantly, what used to be a GG Tank Diff scenario, with a pathetic average ratio of 80% stomps, now is 3.8%

What for any intelligent living form, is what it should’ve been since OW2 release

On a side note, I didn’t leave a single game today.
And yesterday I left two accounts with 2 hour penalty before I closed the game for the day, because match quality really made me sick

And even Queue times are perfectly fine.
With 2 Tanks, and the population split up in 2 different modes as we speak, wait times are completely symmetrical across the board. Up to 1 min for each role

But on a small downside, this mode comes in somewhat late.
It is understandable that Blizzard wanted to show the evolution of the game, along with its playerbase; but this 6v6 trial with all heroes available, should have been released before Marvel Rivals came out

Because now, in Overwatch, the point of reference and comparison against MR, is this

a pathetic average ratio of 80% stomps

and after 8 years of one patch after the other, announcing Fixes and Fine Tunings for the Matchmaking, they finally delivered.

… quite f late; but better late than never

Now for the babies crying about Tanks being so weak, there is 1 more Tank on the field.
With all the abilities, all the characteristics and interactions involved, and one additional Ultimate

So no, you can’t run around bashing squishies without a single care in the world for your positioning, or if you even have Line of Sight from your Supports anymore.
That being said, I couldn’t care any less if Cyx lost all of his games on Roadhog yesterday

Soooo… now you have to Tank.
And because 14seasons later all of the sudden you Have to Tank, DPS is going to finally play the role they sign up before Queueing for a game. And so is Support.

And yes, you’ll still need to put preasure on the enemy; but filling the role you are now playing… is going to be much more important than running around like another DPS but with more HP and Armor

I hope we can keep, and why not, merge this mode into the regular card for QuickPlay, and from there begin to rebalance the game once and for all

And by the way, I was one of those who thought 6v6 was not going to cut it. Or that it would make the game too slow again

Like beyond the nostalgia and the community going All In with the trial… in addition to the trades from one format and another… I thought it was not worth the try; or the cost

and I was completely wrong

It is understandable the panic within the company about going live as a Free To Play service, and all the new players that were coming in, and the Queue times… so they had to cut 2 players from the formula

And the concern was so high about Tanks and Wait times, that they even highjacked the Doomfist population and rework them as Tanks.
And they made sure they were bringing a lot of players as collateral, because the Doomfist community, were ALL OTP/Specialists players on average xD

But besides fixing those Queue times, the role really suits the characters.
Much better than a squishy with 225hp to be honest. Because there is no such thing as a squishy about Doomfist xD

Wrapping this up, with all the Pros and Cons, this 6v6 mode proved that 5v5 was a short term patch for the game

And… that Jeff was right

All along

6v6 is the most stable format for the game.
In the bigger picture, it can cost a lot more to balance, and to even think of the design of new characters that may come in the future.

But the improvement of the Match Quality, and the Player Experience, shows that 5v5 was a format that eventually was going to fall short

I said it before, but I’ll take bad 6v6 over 5v5. It’s as simple as that.

Now if I could stop getting Zarya / Hazard / Brig squads that go 5 and 11 that would be great.

I think this is perhaps the biggest kick in the teeth with this.

A whole lot of people just aren’t bothered about OW2, they aren’t bothered about this 6v6 test even though they’ve been waiting for it for ages. They’re having fun playing Marvel Rivals and enjoying themselves.

matchmaking still smells like garbage farts.

While I agree 6v6 is better, I had the polar opposite effect playing this test.

I played around 20 games, won 2, and lost 18. I don’t think there were many stomps, and I myself wasn’t doing poorly (quite the opposite, leading in all the important stats of the role I was playing by a massive margin out of all the players in the lobby), but I was just constantly losing.

Still more fun than playing 5v5, but some of the changes to the 6v6 test are really dumb. Like why did they reintroduce spam discord orb?
