It is wholly unfair. I play QP/QP classic to have fun, not be stone walled by a sweaty 6 stack going against 6 players who aren’t on comma. EU suffers a lot from this as hardly anyone uses comma because of the billion languages here.
Having stacks with solo players is unhealthy for the game. From my experience stacks are harder to play with and easier to play against - they are always a l w a y s the players who bring the team down. The only time I’ve had a stack on my team were we stomped was when we had a smurf genji who said he was GM who basically destroyed the whole enemy team every blade he got. Meanwhile yesterday I’m playing, I notice our team is being stomped (I have gold heals at 3500 on roadhog, etc etc), then halfway through the match 4 people on our team left. Every match we are stomping the enemy has a stack - every match I’ve lost to a stomp we have a stack (it’s even better when they false report the rest of the team).
I cannot related to being stomped by a stack though - was playing open queue vs an obviously coordinated 6 stack playing GOATS and we just rolled them with 5 DPS lol
This. Just this. Pretty much why I avoid playing QPC or Open Q comp. The only friend that I ever made left this game, can I please stop getting stomped by stacks?
Yep indeed. There shouldn’t even be a four man stack playing against say a 2-2-1-1 team, the fact that they’re all communicating and working together and coming to one another’s aid means they have a very clear advantage. At least on the EU server, where randoms rarely talk (and even when they do it’s usually just to argue with each other).
Can we just get a Solo/Duo queue already?
This game already caters SO HARD to solo queue players, those who stack get really hard opponents. It’s very rare that solo queue opponents would get a stack against them.
This is a teambased game, so it should make stacks to play against solos. Solo queue players get it so easy already. The game should encourage stacking and playing with friends more. Now it is doing the polar opposite
I don’t know about QP classic because it’s in Arcade, but QP does try to pair groups of equal size against each other. It’s just not always possible. It’s unlikely to put a six stack of GM/Master vs a six stack of Silver, so you may find a six stack vs a 3 stack, a duo and a solo if that makes the team MMRs closer
Hm, that’s funny. In my experience (as someone who never plays solo, and as another EU player), there’s a very heavy weighting in the matchmaker to put up stacks against other similar sized (plus or minus one player) stacks. Only after it clearly doesn’t find a similar stack, it expands the search to significantly larger or smaller stacks, or even solo players. There have even been days where there only seem to be two or three 5- or 6-stacks playing, considering how often we get the same opponents (even after leaving queue). So if you (as a solo player) often run into high stacks, either there aren’t many high stacks playing at that time that could be matched against each other, or you’re filling another stack’s ranks.
You could also consider that teamwork is a rather major aspect of Overwatch. It’s supposed to give you a serious advantage. Forcing stacks to play against other stacks takes away from that aspect, by making teamwork for solo players less necessary (as every opponent they face will also be solo, and there’s little to no teamwork for their opponents too). That could be (and has been) used to argue that there should be no restrictions on group size for the MM, or in competitive. It’d make it that there’d be a lot more stacks vs. solos matches done, and the stacks would by default have a serious advantage (which is, arguably, how it should be).
Finally, there’s something you can do to mitigate the issue: Find a group to play with and take the advantage for yourself. There’s a tool for it in-game (unpopular though it is, and apparently used rather little), and outside (including here on the forums), there are tons of places where one could ask around for temporary or permanent teammates.
Yeah, those opponents are me and other players with high mmr relative to their rank, I am hard because I am better than the members in your stack. But that doesn’t make it fun to play against in a team based game where you can just coordinate and have an advantage over me regardless. You can solo queue too if you think it is easy. But there is a reason you want to face off against solo players with your stack and it certainly isn’t for a challenge. Lul.
Which is only fair, is there a legitimate reason why a stacked team should be put up against solos of similar skill level? And if this game truly catered to solo q players then we would at least have a solo only ladder or something
Overwatch is team based game, but coordinate teams should never go up against solos. How do solos get it easy? (Playing solo is terrible, I just want to suffer less I guess)
I mean that those who stack usually get matched against way harder opponents, than those who just solo queue. I don’t mean that my 6-stack wants to play against solos. I mean that the matchmaker should give less incentives to players play as a solo, as this game is a teambased game.
Right now playing with friends, you get hit by SR restrictions or in GM you can only duo. SR restrictions can’t also be by-passed by playing with a full 6-stack. We should encourage people to stack up with friends and play to make a team with more coordination. As solo queueing, you barely ever even manage to play as a team
Who is disagreeing with that tho?
If you know how MM works, you would know that the possibilities of that happening is REALLY small. Is it impossible for that to happen? No.
Lets not make a castle out of a grain of sand because 1 out of 573 matches you played was like that, oK? Cool
