Look, I don’t think Blizzard is going to bring back 6v6.
Maybe, and that’s a big maybe, they bring it back as an official arcade mode. But changing QP and Comp back to 6v6? That’s not going to happen. The game won’t magically get better if they do. Tank queues will still be instant, but DPS and Support queues will skyrocket because there will even fewer tanks in the queue. Why? Well obviously because now each game will need 2 instead of 1. That’ll effectively halve the number of games happening.
Not to mention all the other issues that were stated as to why the game changed from 6v6 to 5v5 in the first place will come back. So ultimately nothing will be solved, the game will be worse, but hey, some folks who couldn’t adjust to the new format will get an ego boost because Blizzard ‘finally listened to them’ and then they’ll start complaining about how tanking sucks in 6v6, how the queues are too long, etc etc.
You know, the consequences of their crusading for an outdated game mode.
Add enough coins that it takes you 2 seasons to earn one legendary or BP for free and returning the game to a state it never should have left is not only not cause for celebration, the monetisation of the shop is not fixed, and there is far more wrong with the game than just the monetisation. Double shield however would not be one of those issues, you are just making things up to have a cry.
You got Rein with 1800 shield and multiple options.
Sigma with no changes to his shield.
Orisa with reduced cooldowns across the board where you got endless defense. Rein throws up 1800 hp worth of shielding then Orisa can come up with spear spin on a 7 second cooldown and stuff all incoming damage for 2 seconds, then she gets 4 seconds of fortify on a 13 second cooldown. She comes off that cooldown Rein has his shield right back up.
Where in this chain do you ever get a chance to shoot back?
Orisa + Sigma except this time instead of a 600 hp shield you got, again spear spin + fortify.
And I do not gaf what some giga GM plays in top 500.
OW 1 Rein had a 55-58 percent win rate in gold-diamond in OW 1, look up the stats. You guys want that back with even better brawl tanks to support him, dive being even worse than before, and beefed up brawl dps.
This is just GOATs in 2/2/2 for the vast majority of skill tiers except for some wanna be OWL 16 hour a day gfuel chugging swamp butts in top 500.
And OW isn’t even a good competitive shooter. People bragging about being good at Overwatch would probably get destroyed in Counterstrike or some other actually competitive game where you can’t abuse cheese like this 1800 hp shield that can regen in every ten seconds with another character dropping 6 full seconds of being almost totally invincible.
Aren’t you the least impressed by him actually putting his money where his mouth is and creating a system to support 6v6?
If the attempt at creating a 6v6 system succeeds and becomes a big hit with the Overwatch population, he may actually force the devs hand, whether they like it or not.
Samito is not just sitting and yelling, he is actually doing something, unlike most people here.
The polls that have been held weren’t official Overwatch ones so therefore were moot.
Unless Overwatch makes it so everyone who is new can try out 6v6 - there’s no such thing as a non-biased poll, either. They’d have to bring it back- even temporarily- for the poll to be an accurate one.
5v5 < 6v6
One tank puts too much pressure on the tank and makes the team difference that much worse. No, you can’t change my mind. Everyone needs a buddy. Papa Jeff was right.
Except none of those options include attacking while holding his shield, you know, the whole reason why he doesn’t work in double shield.
You do realise Orisa can’t stop any beams or discord? She can’t do anything to prevent the enemy from shooting around her either lmao
Oh no, Orisa has defensive abilties
Shame though that they’re all worse than her shield and they’re all for herself lmao
Literally just play brawl. Shield busting or Sombra is completely unnecessary. Doom, Rein, Mauga, Queen, Zarya, Ramattra, you’ve got even more options to play into this absolutely crippled version of double shield than you did before.
Literally the fattest skill issue of all time.
This is a lie. 5v5 discussions were had but people were as against it then as they are now. They were just less vocal about it because until blizz announced it, nobody believed they would do something this stupid
Considering the latest poll on the forums, a 6v6 biased place, was at over 100 votes for 6v6 and around 30 for 5v5, yeah no, they wouldn’t be 50/50 in 6v6 biased communities lol.
If you think you are the majority, just from some random straw poll, that’s just moronic lmfao.
Most people want 6v6. You can see it everywhere. You can see it from the droves of people leaving. You can see it from the borderline non existent tank playerbase. You can see it from blizzard themselves, and their lack of any direction at all when it comes to trying to fix the issues tank has.
I mean they are literally just spinning a wheel at the office atp trying to make something work in terms of tank changes. But it won’t. Because it can’t.
You can like 5v5 personally, that’s cool. But it is an OBJECTIVELY. Read it again. OBJECTIVELY worse format for the video game called Overwatch. That’s all it is.
How many times a quarter of the map gets blown up per minute?
With the tank ult charge reduction passive being cut from 40 to 15 percent and about a 25 percent cut across the board to ultimate costs you and Meltito really seem to like those q abilities a lot.
And what’s the logic behind buffing Reins shield up to 1800, buff spear spear and fortify so they come up more often and no changes to Sigma’s shield?
This is just a meta where either Rein or Sigma put up a shield and then when that comes down Orisa moves forward with spear spin and then fortifies until the shield comes back up to full.
6v6ers the problem they have is they fixate on that one Sigma/Orisa comp but fail to realize that comp was only a symptom of the systemic problem 6v6 had which was when you have two tanks that have defensive abilities they create an endless chain where when one defensive ability goes down the other comes up.
And flanking is harder to pull off in 6v6 because there’s more characters blocking the chokepoint permitting movement and then when you circumvent that chokepoint in some way one of the tanks falls back and defends.
As I said, I played 6v6 for about 1250 hours. It could work better with fewer ultimates that are not as powerful, dive tanks being more useful compared to poke/brawl tanks, and the maps being made more open so teams are not constantly jammed into chokepoints which seemed to be OW 1’s entire map design philosophy.
I’m even giving constructive critique on how this can be done without turning into a massive poke the choke ult fiesta, but looking at this 6v6 adjustment patch Meltito cooked up I’m starting to think that’s what you guys really want for this game.
My best advice if you guys want a very campy ultra defensive try hard game where one tiny little slip up in teamwork defending a chokepoint leads to a full wipe just go play Rainbow Six Siege or something like that.
I think the reason you guys don’t is because that game doesn’t have those q abilities you can just hit and blow the map up with, which is kind of ironic cause ya’ll love to boil every argument down to “git gud scrub” when you use player stats to demonstrate how this patch just turns into Rein 24/7 playlist for most players but then go full throttle I-win button to the max when push comes to shove for you guys to make your own patch.
