Then yea thats mostly your teams fault, which boils down to matchmaking, a lot of new players are starting out the game and dont know what to do/play their role properly and higher level players get matched with low leveled players
I used to like 5v5, but man. Every single game is determined by 1 player, which is a tank. It is not fun not being able to do anything because the tank is constantly diff’ed by the enemy team. Also doesn’t help if the enemy DPS is a good widowmaker so you cannot carry at all.
Honestly (IMO, not facts)? 6v6 “died” when role queue happened. When I was playing comp in 2018 there was no fixed role and 50% of the time we had 1 tank. We only went 2 tank when we needed it and most people just played DPS and we had fun… unless we lost then lol.
Point is less people picked tank and played whatever they wanted or needed (I always go DPS and switch to healer when we had none, np). Adapt or die. It’s why I just stuck with QPC and rarely touched RQ comp and QP (unless lootbox hehe).
Maybe GOATS dominated comp in higher ranks but from my ranks and experience (my views, not yours) OQ was never a problem. I miss comp games where 6 DPS killed a 3-0-3 game. Try hards on a destructive path and it rocked!
That’s literally only if the healers aren’t healing them. Even Hog has self heal, orisa if timing her abilities right just won’t die, with any sort of healing.
I’ve peaked rank 1 in season 22. The game genuinely has nothing to work towards for support players. You pick Kiriko or Lucio and that’s it. You then spam holding down heals on the tank as Kiriko, firing the occasional shot into someone to pass the time. Or you play Lucio where you can’t afford to go on lengthy Reddit flanks because if your tank doesn’t have speed boost they’re a sitting duck.
Game is genuinely braindead now. There’s not enough layers to the gameplay to keep it interesting to anyone above 12 years old really.

They could have balanced the game for two tanks, removing double shield or nerfing shields because of it or offering more ways to go through or around shields, but they just removed a whole player from each team instead as the laziest option.
They could have rebalanced it, they just chose not to. Don’t act like 5v5 is the only way they could have ever done it.
Other than double shield, 5v5 is a loss in every way. Unfortunately Blizzard doesn’t go back on their changes, so we are stuck with this forever. I also feel like the biggest reason they actually did this was to change up the game to get old players and new players in to rack up playcount.

All they had to do was limit one shield tank per team, the other tank had to pick an off tank.

You know what else is an annoying slog to deal with that’s still in the game and most people hate seeing? Yeah, everything else that was still annoying in OW1.
The dev are the same people that created the 3-Wheels ATV from the 4-Wheel ATV and pat themself on the head lol

I heard that the real way they should have done them was to put 1 wheel in the back, 2 in the front. They were awful.
RQ killed the game, some people here don’t want to face that harsh truth but here we are.

6 vs 6 treatment to promote 5vs5 as the only mode, is what RQ 6vs6 did to OQ 6vs6 except it’s even worse…
It’s a never ending cycle with problems you can’t solve if you don’t get rid of RQ.
No matchmaking can create humans players when it’s needed to compensate low retention of players.
OW2 has the same problem MMORPG with trinity(heal, dps, tank) has but on steroid because of MMR and all different skill levels.
NO matchmaking can balance demographics being unbalanced by creating players in a game with low retention.
Not today, not tomorow, never.
Why lot of games don’t do anymore hard roles like in OW, a pure nightmare to balance for waiting times.
While if everyone is a DPS with soft tools to still make a difference gameplay wise.
It gets rid of any unbalanced demographics since at core everyone is a DPS.
We had hard defined roles since the game was released, OQ allowed flexibility to counter problems no matchmaking can solve. RQ killed that.
OW won’t make any progress over time if the community doesn’t deal with that.
Bringing back OQ will make all crowds happy, since being flexible is key here.
Make OQ back and allow player to chose in game at hero selection screen what’s their preferences to play eventually.

I legit only play rq, especially in comp. Double and triple tank sucks to go against with how tanks are ATM. I can’t even bother with OQ quick play because ![]()
OQ was alright but it was exceedingly toxic. Especially when someone chose to throw and switch off heals to gimmick DPS or something for you to realize after you list lost point that you only had 1 healer because the other said f it.
I’m fine with RQ because it’s more balanced.
Incorrect. I was actually at Blizzcon when they announced and introduced Overwatch.
It was labeled as a “high lethal” FPS game, as it was the first time ever Blizzard wanted to do one to attract FPS crowd. once it was devolving into a MOBA game, FPS players were leaving for other FPS games naturally, thus redirection back to FPS style.
Why so many people blame RQ? The core fault of the game is a person less its not so hard to understand. If you had a table standing on 6 legs, and you take away 1, the table will inmediately fall down the moment you take out a second leg. If you have a table standing on 5 legs, and one of them is a big pillar in the middle. The moment you take away the big pillar the table becomes infinitely easier to take down.
Take away a healer and you killed characters like Lucio or Brigitte who can’t put the same amount of healing, take a dps out and you absolutely won’t see any flankers because everyone would need a hitscan to deal with the enemy tank. They took away a tank and now offtanks are simply out, nobody is going to sell me that Ball is fine because I main him and its crap. DF was crap until they overtuned him, JQ is crap if not overtuned, Winston only works because he is overtuned.
This is not even sustainable to balance anymore I dont know what they were thinking to begin with, It plays more as a moba now than before so thats not an argument either.
We could play open queue in 6v6 and everything would remain the same but better.
I made a point of this during the first beta. Then I got called a doomer. :\
tanks might have more impact than the other two roles as individual players but you can absolutely still hard carry on dps or support. Overall it has become easier for every player to carry because there’s 2 fewer per game
