5V5 defenders all have the same two, bad arguments

Oh no. Horror of horrors, you had to actually play as a team and coordinate properly because the game didn’t baby you as much as OW2 wants to do.

You can’t prove that they couldn’t use the revamped OW2 system with 6v6 to reduce queue times though, especially because more people would queue tank again, and you don’t know exactly how many more with F2P and the game actually being updated and not left to rot while PvE was never actually being done anyway (lol)

They were already taking like 1-3 months to actually update the game at that point anyway. You would never see a patch faster than a month and they do way faster with updating now.

The shields in double shield weren’t even the main problem to begin with. It was the high sustain hero’s and their kits that hid behind them that made Double Shields rise possible, at least to the degree we saw it.

You can’t make people understand that though.

You also can’t make people understand that yes, believe it or not, if you abandon a game balance wise for 2+ years, on a horrid balance patch no less, yes you WILL bleed players faster which results in longer and longer queue times.

The ones that don’t leave because of that lousy balance will leave because you give off the impression of being a dead game.

Where is the fun in playing as a 6 man unit usually with random idiots rather than an individual carry that can away change the game with good plays and decissions? 6v6 was rock papper scissor simulator and teammate roulette. Barely even played Ow1 after the 2 year mark. It starded declining super fast.

Not to mention stunwatch and barrier watch that made the experience straight dogpoop. Heroes were still fun and well designed but they didn’t have any potential in that envirement. They do in 5v5 though so stop crying about it. There’s also custom games that anyone can make and you can play your 6v6 or even 8v8 there all you want.

Ive been watching the videos of Guru, Harbleu and Gale when they were playing 6v6 custom games, they even made the 6v6 mode balanced. The atmosphere is so positive on the way they communicate and their strategic planning to make combos and to balance their ult usage, it’s really fun to watch and then when you check the 5v5, the atmosphere is really dead, whoever makes the entry pick wins the game.

Right, I’ll stop ‘crying’ about it because you tell me too.

5v5er’s are a laugh riot

And yet tank queues aren’t as short as support

I am not even going to really trash people who prefer 5v5, it is a preference. I just really REALLY dislike the people who argue the original OW and 6v6 shouldnt exist at the same time as OW2 and 5v5.

Those who prefer 5v5, more power to you, I just want to be able to play OW1 and 6v6.

Proving New 6v6, is better than Old 6v6, doesn’t mean much.

And it certainly isn’t the same thing as proving New 6v6, would be better than current 5v5.

And saying “They could do stuff that already exists right now”, isn’t an improvement.

What kills me about it is Blizzard runs scared from the entire argument. Like when they told Flats ‘Don’t bring up 6v6’ when he had a chance to interview Aaron, and the countless times their asked if on Reddit, Twitter, whatever and even during AMA’s it goes ignored.

Their scared to see how many people would migrate over if a 6v6 queue was put in. And I think most of the hardcore 5v5ers are too. I’ve always said there’s more 6v6ers than you’d think, and if a proper 6v6 queue was added, that would bring proof to the assumption.

This is not an excuse, it really got bad at the end with all the shields in the game.
Like I have friends (we all at GM) who are missing 6v6 and then you had the 6v6 workshop and after couple games they agreed 5v5 is better as it was just shield everywhere and we where reminded of how frustrating that was.

6v6 was impossible to balance (not that they are doing a good job balancing the game RN)

Nah, the pace wasn’t really all that much different from now.

August 2019: RQ is released.

September 2019: balance patch featuring Sigma, Bastion, Zarya, and Sym.

October 2019: big balance patch.

November 2019: mainly Workshop fixes, to be fair, but there is one very significant change that would have a very real impact: this was the start of Giga Bap’s reign. So many dead. So many lost.

December 2019: the infamous barrier patch.

January 2020: balance patch nerfing double shield mainly, and also ending the horror of Giga Bap’s tyranny.

February 2020: map pools, the first experimental mode, and devs reveal that they have been working on solutions to the already existing tank crisis. Balance changes.

Weak comeback attempt. So you can’t deny what I said abuve huh?

I just know better than to try and argue with someone who says ‘stop crying’ like it’s a legitimate talking point.

Stay in your bubble then and enjoy 5v5

And yet, barely anyone plays Open Queue for the multi tank experience

That’s because, I assume, in open queue the only way to get that experience is to sacrifice either one DPS or one support, and not many dps players are willing to do that, and nobody wants solo-support in either format.

That’s the inherent issue with 5v5 as a format: Every time you make one role stronger, it has to come at the altar of sacrificing one or both of its other roles to one degree or another. Tank is the most glaring example of course but it happens to the other roles as well

Man a part of me can’t wait until the popular “6v6” custom mode randomly stops working in attempts to get people to stop saying “going back to 6v6 is possible”.
I was working on a 6v6 custom not too long ago and it kept bugging and turning into the April fools patch. Weird. Anyways, I hope eventually 6v6 will return to either replace the main format or open que.

The only people I really see left defending 5v5 are usually support or damage mains complaining about double shields or a certain dive meta that felt horrible OR a total lack of synergy. Also the few 5v5 tank mains I see usually main hog, orisa, Mauga, and sometimes JQ and Ram, but almost never the others… maybe because of their high damage and sustain. Who knows. I’m just tired of seeing the same points be said over and over again with little regard to the sufferings of a solo tank having to eat all the CC for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Oh and the funny counter-swapping after you wipe the enemy team you basically have to run back to spawn, swap off the hero you wanted to play, and be forced to play meta or lose/get flamed by your team for not swapping! All at the mercy of the enemy team and your team. I love people threatening to report me for not wanting to sacrifice my fun every single game. If it’s one counter, I could care less, but as soon as it’s 2 or 3, I’m forced to bend the knee.

Now 5v5 people would just shrug it off and say, “That’s tough luck, it’s apart of the game. Counterswapping should be viable at all times. Having another tank will make the other roles feel helpless, and they’re the majority! It’s a shame the tank population is shrinking… might just have to remove tank entirely to save que times!” That’s all I’m hearing, man. Why just stop at amputating one arm when you could amputate two? Since y’all seem to hate tank players so much…

You know I actually saw someone in the Content Creator scene spout this nonsense? ‘Oh the game couldn’t handle going back to 6v6’

So the 6v6 customs that’s just….unicorn magic? Fairy dust and pixie sprinkles?

They’ve got no shame.
