I have 5G internet on my PC that runs every other online game FPS or not perfectly fine. every time i try to play a game i get pulled out of the queue into an infinite loading screen where after 30 seconds I get kicked and suspended from playing ANY of your stupid game that I don’t even like that much anyways. first it was 10 minutes, now its 90 MINUTES with a pending BAN for something I know is not my problem as I have ran this game fine before. I’ve tried restarting my PC and internet but it’s clearly an issue with your underdeveloped game
Hi, volunteer here.
Unfortunately, 5G internet doesn’t meet the requirements for any Blizzard titles played online, except those developed for mobile phones.
5G internet is best suited for mobile applications, like Instagram or Gmail, and uses line-of-sight technology (which is a lot less developed than a 21st Century video game) to complete a connection. Some companies are selling 5G services for home use when modern internet options — like high-speed cable or fiber — are not available in the area.
These 5G connections are also susceptible to a lot of different issues, like weather or network congestion. Another common issue is deprioritization of gaming traffic by the company selling the service. This method of lessening their network load comes at the cost of slower internet for you.
Ultimately, if you can’t connect to the Overwatch servers when there is no reported outage, then you’ll want to take it up with the wireless carrier.
okay i actually have to say that is a completely brain-dead way to design a game. my network is ONLY 5g and my carrier is unable to change it or give an additional network for 4G. congrats overwatch 2 and blizzard on once again disappointing long time supporters. maybe try optimising or fixing your game???
Pretty much all games that run on PC or console are designed for landline connections, not mobile networks. The other games you’re playing likely have lower tick rates/less data transfer, making them tolerable over 5G.
Right, you would need a landline broadband connection. Most mobile networks don’t qualify as broadband because they can’t guarantee 100MB download speeds, which is the FCC’s definition of “broadband service.”
Today’s mobile networks aren’t ready for what modern games require. You’d be asking Blizzard to degrade the quality of the game. I don’t think we will see that type of change.
