So only recently have I been getting an issue where I’ll be in a game or just get into a game, will get booted to the main menu and then disconnect me for like 5 seconds, but then it’ll insta reconnect and i can rejoin match like nothing happened. Normally not an issue until about 30 seconds ago where it happened at the beginning of the game but then game me a 15 min leaver penalty for comp which is incredibly annoying. There was no internet issue since I had no connection issues on anything else I was using on my PC at the time. This is incredibly annoying that this is even a thing and looking at the “Your topic is similar to” right next to where I’m typing, this issues is at the very least 2 years old. How is that something that has not been fixed in OVER TWO YEARS. Cmon now
There’s currently an issue where players are getting connected to the wrong server on OW2 only, resulting in random disconnects, like you’re experiencing, as well as awful ping/lag. Since it’s a routing issue Blizzard can’t actually do anything about it, which is bull imo but it is what it is. You’ll need to contact your ISP in order to get back on the correct server.
This issue was also taking place in 2019, so I agree that it’s incredibly frustrating that it’s still happening!! Even if Blizzard can’t fix the routing error you’d THINK they’d want to understand and prevent the problem from occurring in the first place, especially since it’s only with THEIR GAME. Sorry you’re going through it dude, it sucks big time. I’m hoping that it gets magically resolved come next season in a week.
There’s no way to prevent a routing issue since Blizzard is not an internet service provider or routing peer, but a server selector would be a welcome feature.
Gotcha, that sincerely makes total sense; I think I understand better now. Admittedly not a super techy guy, so I’ll keep my mouth shut from now on lol. You clearly know your stuff and can actually help; I’ll keep out of your way. I’m just frustrated is all, and it’s happening to more and more folks, which sucks.
Sometimes a VPN can help, especially if you use one optimized for gaming.
Appreciate you replying. I’m not a super techy guy either, mostly reach out to my buddies who are, but I’m a bit confused here. So even though I have my region set to Americas in the BNET launcher, my ISP is routing me to a different server? I’m just confused because I haven’t experienced lag or bad ping any of the times it’s disconnected me mid game and i reconnect. Any clarification would be super helpful. thanks
My responses were for NaToraTiel. I can’t tell where your disconnection is happening without a network test like a WinMTR or PingPlotter.
