4th-wall Breaking hero

Just wondering, wouldn’t it be fun to have a hero that breaks the fourth walls with it’s interactions like Deadpool and such? Mostly in voicelines, like after dying, saying “can you pay attention to the game already?” or having a big moment and saying “hope that gets Play of the Game!”.

That would be fun. Now that you mention it, I am vaguely surprised we do not already have one.

Give sigma split personality, with one that break 4th-wall
Would be great imo.

I think that kind of thing is kinda silly, personally. I’d rather not see that in the game.

Doesn’t D.Va break the 4th wall sometimes.

It IS kind of overboard compared to talking hamsters modeled after Pikachu.

That’s already junkrat.

“Aim is overrated”
“And I thought I was supposed to be the comic relief” - to Winston

That’s not really the problem I have with the idea. I just consider the idea of breaking the fourth wall a very cheesy effect based on low value design. Overwatch is a really brilliant world that should remain consistent and self contained when possible. An easter egg here or there is one thing but an entire hero based on it is just lame.

There was a time I agreed, but after years of no lore progression, I just find it hard to care. I understand where you are coming from, however.

“Stanley was fat and ugly, and really really stupid.”

We already have a hero that does this, she has found the perfect balance between breaking the fourth wall while remaining true to the game.

Dva pretends that she’s playing a videogame when she’s driving around, killing people in her meka, but in reality she is in fact in a video game.

But there is a difference between quick puns or remarks and DIRECTLY addressing the player. Its a bit obvious to reference Deadpool here, buuuut I would like to specify the Deadpool from his own videogame, where he addresses the player directly, especialy when you take too much damage and/or die, such as “can you pass the controls to someone who REALLY knows how to play?”.

I never really meant as the whole basis for the hero, but lets say we have a hero based on multiverses, reality-break or something that justify his unnatural knowledge of his situation and self-awareness that gives him interactions directly to the player. If Sigma or Tracer had a confirmed trait of existing or knowing multiple realities, they would be good candidates.

Thats more an irony than 4th-wall breaking, though.

The sombra ARG did It.

not breaking 4th wall if he is interacting with another character in the game.

Yees!! I love deadpool! And having a hero like that would have been so epic and awesome!

And it would have been much more fun that way if the hero is actually talking to the playing.

“Are you sure life isn’t a game, Soldier: 76?”

They had their chance with Terry Crews Doomfist. They failed.

Exactly! Imagine after respawn the hero says:
“Can you stop throwing?”
“Just pass the controls to someone who knows how to play!”
“Should’ve installed that aimbot…”
“That never happened on PTR!”
“Great, walking out of respawn…again!”
Or after scoring multi kills:
“hope Jeff doesn’t nerf me after that…”
“Say it, Athena!”
“Guess who scored Play of the Game!”
“Just go back to Fortnite, darling.”
Ultimate status:
“Ultimate ready, press Q!”
Sniper in the enemy team:
“Sniper! Go back to CSGO!”

Kinda sounds like a Gwenpool-like character.

“Man, everything that’s happening right now reminds me of that Overwatch ride in Blizzard World—”

it is when you consider what the term comic relief is and where it applies from a story perspective
