404 Discord Error Message

When I load into overwatch on my PC, I get a huge pop up saying 404 error message with the Discord logo on it. None of the links work on this error page and I can not physically play the game because it takes up the whole screen.

Hey, I’m having the same issue as well. Think this is a long going problem that happens to random accounts.

I am also experiencing this issue as well. to add to this the game is still functioning in the background and there is no way to dismiss the discord message.

I have discord shut off and am tempted to delete it to see if it still throws the message. Please get this fixed…

I have the same issue. I’ve tried running a scan and repair but every time it said an error occurred. After updating my drivers (coincidentally, I think) OW randomly said I had an update and every time I tried updating it gives me an error and says it can’t complete the update ;(

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled and it seemed to work!

I had this issue too, I noted that it was a discord error and decided to turn off discord game overlay and haven’t had a problem since. Hope this helps!

I can confirm this is a problem that is related to Discord’s overlay features. To disable them open Discord and follow these steps:

  1. Look for your Discord tag and icon in the lower left corner of the discord window and click the :gear: icon.
  2. In the Activity Settings in the left-side options navigation pane and click on Game Overlay
  3. At the top of the main panel, look for “Enable in-game overlay” and toggle it off (going from green to gray)
  4. Restart Overwatch

Note, disabling the overlay affects all compatible games with Discord.

Thanks for taking the time to report this so swiftly! As WyomingMyst noted, this error is caused by the Discord Overlay feature. This should now be fixed according to Discord’s twitter. You can disable the overlay with these steps, reinstall discord, or contact discord support for troubleshooting advice if it’s still happening for you.
