3rd Person Shouldn't be a Allowed in Stadium

3rd person mode just makes it more difficult to aim for most heroes. And it just let’s heroes like Reinhardt have a sight advantage in 3rd person mode over others.

OW was made for 1st person mode, not 3rd person. From a competitive standout, 3rd person mode should not be allowed. Maybe in quick play it should, but not competitive.

It should

I agree that it shouldn’t be allowed just on the principle of fair competition, but on the other hand Stadium is never going to be a true competitive mode that anyone takes seriously so who cares? People seem to enjoy it and I’m not going to spend any significant time in the mode anyway, so it doesn’t really harm me.

There are infinitely bigger fish to fry.

I would be very upset if they put it in QP though. Absolutely not. Keep it out of QP/Comp.

I’d rather have first person PoV disabled in the Stadium. Put everyone on the equal footing and end all the whinging about “advantages”. This isn’t an ideal solution either, however, as there are those who profess trouble playing in 3PV for various reasons. This leaves what we have now as the best compromise: everyone is free to choose for themselves how they like to play this game mode.

The fact that we are able to choose between the two modes makes it clear Stadium isn’t competitive at all. If you like 1st person view then stick with it. Just play the thing and have fun.

Who really cares, it’s just some random mode that’s been added to attract people that used to play Valorant or something.

Some heroes like Mercy and Lucío benefit greatly from 3rd person view. They dont depend on aiming as much as say Ashe or Soldier: 76.

I lose whatever advantage I might gain from playing in 3rd person because I absolutely suck at aiming! I just massively prefer playing in 1st person.

Probably a result of nearly 9 years of playing the game now and being stuck in my ways but I’m having fun regardless and doing fairly well.

You’re probably right but I just can’t seem to adjust and I’m not sure I want to. Think I’ll probably fit right in with an unranked stadium mode.

Yeah, some heroes I wont do 3rd Person, like D.Va. But for Heart of Hope Juno, 3rd Person totally rocks! :gift_heart: :sparkling_heart:

I can’t play in 3rd person as it makes me too dizzy. I’ve tried on several characters and there’s this weird motion sickness I get specifically from Stadium that I don’t get in other 3rd person shooters. It’s so weird and I can’t put my finger on it.

I get that in The Other Game. My solution was looking at my character directly on occassion. It seemed to help.

That’s not gonna happen. It was made for third person that was their dream for it. If anyone advocating that it only have one option is going to take away our ability to play in first person.
It’s just not competitive enough to really matter, same with the cross play thing they need to loosen it up and just let it be fun before trying to turn it into some try hard min max ultra competitive mode. Let the game grow and get it’s identity

No no, it shouldn’t.

For some people maybe. But if you’re trying to scout for enemies from the sky, you can’t see them through your character. If the mercy needs to pull out the pistol while zigzagging around, the 3rd person isn’t very helpful.

Only a mercy who’s allergic to her pistol might enjoy 3rd person. And i don’t know if her ga flight path is different in 3rd person. It’s very easy to collide with things and if you’re not prepared or doing it intentionally, it might kill you.

Good points!

For some reason, using Mercy’s compact pistol in 3rd person feels “natural” to me. Maybe cause the energy bullets are so visible. Not sure.

I personally didnt have any trouble with objects or heroes being blocked by her fit body. The distance of the camera feels really nice. And I really enjoy how the camera zooms out when she glides. That feature is awesome.

Elo difference is also a thing that affects playstyle.

And how peoole deal with visual stimuli.

Personally i struggle with “scope blindness”(as i like to call it)
If i spend too long zoomed in on ana or ashe, i forget to look at my crosshair when trying to shoot people.

In 3rd person, my eyes get stuck on my own character on the screen because they’re so big. I end up becoming blind to everything else on the screen. I can’t shoot at anything, don’t kniw where everyone is, can’t prioritize healing targets because i have no idea who’s low and who’s not.

It’s too distracting to have a big portion of the screen taken by something that has nothing to do with my gameplay. It’s a lot of visual information that’s useless in the match.

It’s a de facto arcade mode so who cares. As long as they never bring 3rd person into regular comp I’m fine with it.

Why? It’s bad overall.

I’ve got news for you, Rein already has third person view by default. So does Hammond.

Just played Mei in Stadium. I think shes the best in 3rd Person. Her whole kit works so well in wide view, well exvept her ice spike sniper bullets.

3rd person view runs so much better in OW2 than Marble Rivets, its cRaZy!
