3rd Party Controllers Banned From XBox Console

3rd-party controller are being banned from xbox console, such as ximm and other device use for cheat. the downside is that 3rd-party support for hitbox in the fighting genre scene will be hit hard.

artificially restricting any device compromises player experience and player options. xbox team: “even though astro helped us design the 360, let’s blacklist their controller, along with any controller deemed a threat to our elite controllers. this way, players have less options even though we didn’t invent USB ourselves. only controllers that can’t compete with our elite controllers may be eligible for approval”.

Ximm and cronus zen require the use an official controller and exploits it via a MITM attack. Microsoft’s enforcement here will have zero effect on ximming because the console is literally connected to an official controller, and the controller is being manipulated by a ximm.

LOL

All this change does is make it so that microsoft can punish companies for not giving them money to create custom controllers. Essentially it is bad for gamers and will not deter any cheating at all.

And so many people think that microsoft buying blizzard is good. Freakin’ comical sheep mentality. :kissing_heart:

pretty sure they did this because people are using hardware based cheats.

If it gets rid of xims,I say it’s worth the sacrifice.

They did it because it will make them money. How many companies do things that lose them money?! They do not care about hardware cheaters because it is not hurting their bottom line that much.

Xim uses an offical xbox controller and communicates as one. It will not be banned.

Imagine how much they could make if they officially licensed Xim tech.

How?

It won’t apparently they’re working on “something”.

This is just in order to make third parties to pay for the license.

its unauthorized third party controllers that will be hit but authorized ones will remain…ximmer devices can be blamed for the mess

We will see on November 12 when this begins. I am not hopeful that xim will be affected.

Ximm will not be affected. Ximm specifically requires a licensed controller so that it can bypass hardware detection schemes like the one Microsoft is using. The only way to detect a Ximm is via software hueristics which means that you can never be 100% sure a Ximm is being used. This is why games that attempt to detect Ximm are based on probabilities and can also false-positivly detect players that are not using a Ximm.

This is merely a money-grab operation aimed at punishing third party companies that make legitimate products, and the users that purchase those products (e.g. flight control sticks, steering wheels, controllers for the disabled, etc).

oh, they definitely don’t care about the cheats. it’s to get manufactured to pay for the partner license to fill their pockets.

I mean there are still people using k&m use play MMOs on the Xbox.
