39 hours at Avg to Unlock Kiriko following leaks

If the leaks are to believe, (take this with a grain of salt.)

If you have to win 6 hours worth of gamesplay to Unlock Kiriko.

Then from the point of view of avg struggling player,

They have to play 39 hours at average to unlock.

Or you pay the $40 dollars to unlock it.

(Funny how math works at times. I did this math without checking the price till after.)

Im no mathematician, but 6(2) = 12. Assuming 50% win rate. Which is average. Where did you come up with 39 hours? Also since when is the bpass 40 dollars?

Avg win rate for struggling players is 46%

There is also Avg Que Times = 10 mins

Avg Playtime = 2 hours

Within the 63 days to unlock the hero, they have to play at least 20 days (really 19.5)

This is the Avg as well, since in the perfect world it is 16 hours and 46 hours at worst.

Are you just making up random numbers and calling them average? And the queue times certainly will not be 10m, and if someone wanted the hero faster, then they would queue a role with shorter queues, or an open queue role.

Also the battle pass isnt 40 dollars.

Maybe I getting the watchpoint and more confused in the math.

Sigh.

Will be on average around 12 hours if they keep this whole MMR 50% win/loss.

edit- It was already stated above.

I hope the leaks are wrong as much as I am.

If we’re going by leaks then the battle pass is 10$ not 40$
And all battlepasses after that are free as long as you can complete each one per season and earn the coins

Quickplay in OW2 against noobs and playing Lucio, I will have this new hero unlocked in under 10 hrs. On the beta my winrate was over 60%. It will be even more brutal assuming OW2 releases on time and I’m not rusty.

I have every faith I will unlock it at a similar speed to the Doomfist golden gun last week. I needed a thousand points and couldn’t stop winning. Even the losses felt like wins so I don’t believe this is a good monetisation model.

But it is what it is. Blizzard wants Lucio mains to grind for the new hero. By all means, watch what happens! Overwatch isn’t Apex. The new players from Warzone & Apex won’t kno what hit them and will be grinding 50 hrs + with a 35% winrate. I will boop them all into the well.

It’s most likely going to be $10 because Warzone’s is $10 and avg industry price is around $10. They’re going to copy Call of Duty’s monetization pretty much so if you’re interested in what the shop could look like, look through Warzone’s.

I sorta like this reasoning, me as a seasoned player would prefer unlocking Kiriko in a few hours, meanwhile all the awful casuals hardstuck for 40 hours trying to get wins, they don’t deserve to unlock Kiriko, period! Especially the mercy mains.

Same for Destiny 2’s as well
Honestly battle passes are way more enjoyable then rng gambling lootboxes to try and get rewards imo

Exactly this.

If it’s similar to Warzone you are going to be able to earn back whatever you spent in Virtual Currency if you complete the Battle Pass. If you are dedicated and have the time to finish a battle pass you can stretch the value of the money you invested in the game. Or if you have kind friends there will most likely be an option to gift Currency to people’s Battle Tags.

That’d be neat, a way to gift to friends or even being able to convert currency to Blizzard Bucks like how you can do it with the WoW Token in WoW.

the battlepass is 10$ not 40$

If it truly is 6 hours of wins, it would take most people 12-20 hours of play when you factor in queue times.

Perhaps more concerning is that, were this leak to be true, it means you need to farm time winning. Consider the following:

  • Many will start leaving losing games, and just as many will be forced to backfill into losing games
  • Winners will start stalling their wins to make them last longer
  • Teammates are going to be more toxic when you’re losing

I’ve never gotten higher than 56% winrate in quickplay. Initially, I can get more or less than 50% winrate though. But after several dozen hours, it always even out to ~54 - 56% winrate on any hero (unless I suck at the hero).

There are some exceptions though. On roadhog, my current winrate is abysmal and it’s only 48%. But on sigma, who I consider is overtuned, my winrate on him is 54%. But my lower winrate on hog might be due to me constantly switching to hog as a last resort whenever I get unwinnable games. So it’s kind of like wrecking ball, who I also switch to when we’re in overtime and I need to stall the point. Which also leads to ball having lower average winrate (45%).

Blizzard really wants to take League Of Legend’s ā€˜most toxic game in the world’ trophy from them it seems.
I mean, I guess they gotta keep up with ā€˜modern gaming standards’, right?

$5 if the leak is true.

They talked about buying XP for the pass in the store, $5 would let you unlock the hero on the free track.

Meanwhile I’m matching against top500 and owl pros in the beta and getting rolled. If they fix quick play honestly I might not even have a problem with the grind. I know I say that understanding I have more free time than many. Screw those that don’t I guess.
