32:9 aspect ratio support?

Its been over a year and half since someone has brought up a topic regarding 32:9, why does blizzard refuse to offer a aspect ratio compatible with ultrawide monitors?

because it is deemed uncompetitive resolution that provides an edge (by seeing more) versus regular wide screen monitors.

it’s a decision made by them not to support it.

Well they are wrong. Vast majority of games nowadays whether competitive or not support 32:9.

You could argue that a much better way to keep competitiveness on the same level would be to limit the game to run at 60fps, since most players only have 60hz monitors. Anything above that gives an unfair advantage.

vast majority of people dont use these monitors, they go dual monitor set ups, which becoming even more popular the cheaper 4k gets. one 1080 24-27inch to game on, and one 32 inch 4k for the 2nd, for console gaming and info screen like discord, apps etc. Is one of the best set ups, especially for fps gaming

They did provide a wider aspect already, for wider monitors, but in a way that it wont give an view advantange.

Plus, there isnt anything wrong with black side bars, it doesnt affect anything, and plus u can always use 2nd half of screen for other things too.

It’s more an issue for OLEDS that suffer from burn in or ‘reverse burn in’ in the black bars case. Because the blacks are infinite the pixels do not age at the same rate, you’ll end up with brighter squares around the outside and dimmer on the 21:9 aspect centre screen.

I get around this by playing in 2560x1440 on 5120x1440. Which results in pretty rough distortion when playing aerial and is pretty stretched.

Though I’m not downgrading for Ow2’s sake lmfao. Plenty of other games that are lively that do support 32:9, CSGO being one I believe.
