Not sure if a lot is being discussed on this team comp I listed in the title. But I thought I’d get the conversation going and get some of your thoughts.
My team of friends have been running a 3 support comp with Briggy in the off tank slot and it seems to be doing incredibly well on certain specific maps like Kings row and 1st point Eichenwalde (just to name a couple).
Basically we run a Mercy/Brig/Lucio for the supports (sometimes zen) with myself being the main tank Reinhardt.
For dps, we have a couple options, but mostly we have been running junkrat and Pharah(if we go with the Mercy) or Junkrat and McCree for heavy CC stuns.
What can I say, we’ve been rolling over teams on specific maps.
So do you guys think a 3 support meta is coming? I already heard some pro teams are skirmishing this, but I have no confirmation other than some rumors I’ve heard from some of my GM friends.
With Brig, Lucio, and Reinhardt basically pushing the entire team forward, Junkrat and McCree to deal with ranged issues and just the raw healing everyone has, it’s hard to kill anyone. Although I think you’re screwed against a decent widowmaker
I’ll admit the heals are a lot, and you just take the fight directly to the enemy team. Also, we noticed our Junkrat player gets RIP TIRE VERY FAST! Like holy smokes he has it after/during every team fight almost.
As for the Widow, yes, but on certain maps it’s not too much of an issue. I just keep my shield up more as Rein and it’s still enough to push the enemy team off the Obj and claim it. But yes, a good widow is indeed a problem, but that can be said for just about any comp really
When this happens, we often switch to the Zen for the second push and get on the McCree with a Junkrat, and it seems to work out very well. The zen discord orb is really powerful once the brawling begins.
Yeah that’s always been the case TBH. People have just been noticing it more now. Speaking of which, an enemy Junkrat or Pharah is a potential issue for you.
… which you literally just said an instant before I posted this XD
Ana destroys that comp. A single biotic grenade, and everyone get burst down to next sunday. Also, a pick comp with a Roadhog, a Widowmaker, and a Junkrat/Bastion could easily pick targets one by one. Plus, most target would die in the middle of the melee, so Mercy would rarely be able to rez. Also, very big lack of verticality.
It can definitely work as a blitz tactic, if the enemy is unprepared, but if they know it’s coming, I’m not sure if it can hold.
I agree, but the thing is, a lot of teams DO NOT see this comp coming before it’s too late. Often times it can just snowball the first point before they can react. Often times the defensive teams are not on the right heroes to counter it to begin with.
It’s something we’ve been noticing, and it can be a very fast way to climb the competitive ladder.
The reason this composition works is because even if Reinhardt dies, you still have Brigitte to somewhat manage the front line and you’ll usually be in a position where Mercy can quickly bring him back up.
That said, it’s also a comp that puts an incredibly demand on your DPS. You need DPS that can put out a lot of damage, meaning Junkrat is pretty mandatory and then you usually want a Hanzo/Soldier/Widow so you don’t play completely into a Pharah composition.
It’s a comp that quickly makes the third healer switchable. You should always look for when you don’t need that much healing and switch either your Lucio or your Mercy (depending on whether you need group healing or single target healing). Moira is also typically a good replacement, as she’ll be good at dealing with counter-picks such as Tracer/Genji and provide more offense to your team.
I’ve already come to accept that 3 support are a thing with Brigitte. She’s more of an enabler than a primary support and she performs best when she doesn’t have to limit her movement to act as a second healer.
Brig on off tank is legit. She synergizes incredibly well with both rein and Zarya individually, so running a triple tank/triple support hybrid with those 3 is quite the force to be reckoned with on maps lacking oppressive high ground.
There is indeed a lot of switching that takes place after we take the first point (if we are playing 2cp or hybrid) because the enemy team is quickly switching heroes to counter, so we have to switch in our new spawn to adjust.
Which honestly, this has me thinking… should Briggy actually be in the tank class? Because, like many people have already said in this thread, Briggy works best with the Lucio, and lucio isn’t a burst healer (neither is briggy) which means you are looking at a 3 support just about every time you run Briggy. So should she actually be a tank?
Brigitte isn’t a main healer but her repair pack is one of the best burst heals in the game. I like that Blizzard is creating more class hybrids but of course there’s always the question of why one class over the other. I personally don’t think this question really matters as you’re going to pick the hero with whatever purpose you want them to serve in mind.
The big thing we noticed about running this comp is the potential to completely snowball the enemy team for the second attack. Rein has his ult, Junkrat has his ult, Briggy almost has her ult and will get it during the next fight (if she didn’t already get it from the first) and the other supports are often close to their ults.
The next attack often completely overwhelms the enemy team, even when they switch to the appropriate counters because we end up having a massive ult advantage.
