2CP is 3 of 19 maps. Why do I get it every third match?

A game mode SOOO BAAAAAD that you removed 2 of the maps. A game mode SOOOOO BAAAAAAAAAD you removed it ENTIRELY from your sequel. But in Overwatch, you statistically weight it so we get it more often. What is WRONG with you?

The game mode is absolutely fine. It’s probably the best game mode.

By popularity you could not be more wrong. Why should they weight a mode SO UNPOPULAR they removed it from their game?

I don’t think the game mode is bad in itself, I think all the additional characters added to the game have made it so stall has become a lot more prominent then it used to be.

No, it is inherently flawed due the fact that there are only 2 points. Offense has to win 2 fights to take the map. Defense has to win 7-14 fights to hold.

prob the only time i disagree with u. unless sarc?
it works for scrims and maybe tank mains like u because it’s very structured.

for general ladder and ability to solo hard carry i can’t stand 2cp.
i’m all about NOT using 5% of the map at any given time. lanes and side duels and having many other areas more relevant and impactful, than a choke, point, payload etc.

I only play competitive so I never get Horizon lunar colony or Paris

I love the design of the other maps

Temple of Anubis is probably my favourite map in the game

It feels like you can make use of every nook and cranny

I play Reinhardt and doom fist so it probably does affect how I view the maps but temple of Anubis is so good for rollouts and hiding spots

I think you’re right that gameplay should ideally take place across all parts of the map and maybe push will accomplish that better than assault

At the same time push could end up being a flop or even worse than assault

They could definitely make some improvements to the game mode just by reducing the amount of afk time so even if you get a snowball game you don’t have to wait lots of time between rounds and also place a teleporter for the defenders to get to the first point quickly at the start of the match

I also feel like you can force the fights to occur around different parts of the map

The problem is more that the player base follows some kind of meta positioning strategy

I try to break the mould in that sense and position myself differently although players sometimes see this as throwing

For example I will hide somewhere close to the enemy spawn as rinehart and then chargeback towards my team

Or you can be super aggressive and push them all the way near to there spawn

Best map tbh.

A ton of people leave them. I leave every single one that tries to load up. Disable all of them already. Put them in Arcade where they along.

this is a take I never thought of. Nice. I like the maps themselves, don’t necessarily love the mode though. Too much real estate, not enough fights in that real estate.

Credit to Jake Lyon for the take. I always observed it felt frustrating, but I’m pretty sure Jake’s take is the cause. I knew it was boring due to the 1-2 spots per point that are usable, but the real annoyance is winning 5 team fights on defense in a row just to lose one to 6 ults and be forced to play for 3 more minutes due to it, repeating the process on B. The artificial handicaps to try to ā€œbalanceā€ it make it annoying on attack (single choke on low ground on every single point A), and incentivize repetitive ā€œcheeseā€ strats like Sym TP. So it’s artificial, swingy, and repetitive in composition and location, all because there are only 2 points. Hybrid and Payload have basically infinitely many ā€œpoints,ā€ and KOTH is just whichever team wins 1 more team fight wins the round (though still limits map usability like 2CP).

I kind of always thought it should be 3 cp maps. But with this take you have enlghtened me … Im rethinking already. Like…3 cp…but you can lose one back to the other team? Then it would almost be like a tug of war? Takes twice as long to capture analready captured point back? But you have to capture in order?

Probably too complicated now.

A little too complicated I think. 2-CP is really bad below at least diamond because of how inconsistent the stomps can be.

We agree on a lot of things Hulk, but I think 2cp is consistently the worst gaming experience I have.

Yeah. Just a thought after this realization… Definitely not a well designed game mode from me. I hope these maps gets a good use,. Maybe as a payload or point capture then payload…or push if that mode is good.

I don’t mind 2cp because I think it’s the mode I win the most on. I wish they tracked the data so I could see. I think in 2cp it’s particularly important to not feed especially on defense, and play slow when necessary. And know when to give the other team 2 ticks instead of trickling in one at a time.

When they temporarily put Horizon Lunar Colony back in competitive, I did track my win rate on that map for all of that season (hero bans season so like season 20 if I recall). I got that map 23 times and won 16 times.

Agreed… Natural cover is screaming out loud.

You can pretty much always win the game if you give them 2 ticks, wait for a full regroup and push as a team.
