Two scenario.
- Playing at 140-200fps with 240hz monitor.
- Playing at 140-200fps with 144hz monitor.
Which one is better? Will the 240hz monitor still benefit even if my fps can’t reach 240? The reason I ask this is because my friend is getting a new 240hz monitor soon and willing to sell me for only $200. I can easily sell my 144hz for $150 and get a 240hz for $50 extra. I just wonder if not reaching 240fps will actually give me poor performance on a 240hz monitor.
240 looks terrible apparently
Honestly, anything past 120fps is more of a giant swinging geekrection more so than something that’s serving a unique function. Go for the 144hz monitor. It’s cheaper and does all you need.
fps is only half the battle, keep in mind ping is something that also dictates how soon a character acts/reacts/etc. So hopefully you’re also using a direct Internet connection.

If you can’t squeeze out constant 200+FPS, there is absolutely no point going for 240Hz monitor.

240hz, because you have less input lag anyway.
But if really you want a good scenario, try to get an Iiyama Vision Master Pro 514 or a Sony GDM-FW900, and get them to 120-150hz, you will experience damn good colors, 0 input lag
P.S: you don’t need to generate the same number of FPS of the monitor frequency to have benefits, but the best scenario is generating the same FPS number as the monitor frequency or more
There is another question: what is your objective? You aim to become a professional player? Or you just want to reach high ranks?
Then 240hz are better if you aim to play in official tournaments, 144hz instead are cheaper and more suitable for people who wants to rank up and play competitive FPS.
You would need a beast of a pc to get +200 FPS.
And to be honest, you wouldn’t exactly see a difference between 144 HZ and 240 HZ. Both are incredibly smooth.

The one with the lower input latency.
neither is better, you’re going to get the same from both, but if you were to get the 144 with a higher resolution screen for the cost of the extra hz then that one would be better with your current gpu
Thanks everyone for answering!
As someone who owns a 240hz i can safely say 140-200fps 144hz is alot better than 140-200fps 240hz.
Even when my frames dip to like 230 i can immediately notice it and its annoying.
Do not buy 240hz unless you have a monster pc.
False all 144hz -240hz TN panels have 1ms GTG these days.

Eh, my PC isn’t the strongest out there, but my frames rarely drop under 250.
Just don’t play on ultra.
the fps needs to be stable. so 144hz.
as someone who runs the game at 240hz however i would definitely recommend upgrading your hardware for it. game is silky buttery smooth.
GTG lag is a different thing from imput lag. For example a monitor could have 1ms gtg, but 10-15ms of input lag. Also 1ms gtg is worse than 1ms black to white, the GTG system was made to illude the consumer, because CRT monitor (0ms input lag and istant switching from a color to another) used to piss off LCDs
240hz is a waste imo, I don’t only want to play competitive shooters with gimped down graphics, I want to enjoy singleplayer games with high refresh rates and good graphics settings, too.
144hz all the way.

As someone who also owns a 240hz monitor I completely agree with this. My PC can stay above 240fps for the most part but when it drops its noticeable. Testing many times with 144hz and 240hz i found the image smoother at 144hz than 240hz for the below 200s

You won’t get true 200 fps on a 144 HZ monitor. It will only go up to 144.
Honestly there’s not a hugely noticeable difference between 144 and 240. You’re better off saving your money and going with the 144.

You’re really not going to notice a big difference between the two. I’d go with the 144hz because of its price/value. I’d prefer a consistent frame rate because dropping frames are always noticeable. 144 frames are more than enough imo.
Yup it is so annoying lol
Funny i have read that nowhere on blur buster’s. Mind linking me an article?
