because high refresh monitors feel awesome even when on desktop and browsing internet.

No no no, you got a point this is true
I’m stuck on a 60fps 5-15ms refresh time monitor right now and I know it’s holding me back, but one day I’ll make it to 100 fps+ heaven.
The human eye doesn’t see “fps” this is about as wrong as one can be and you post this as fact. yes you can see the difference between 144 and 240 and beyond. I’ve used from 60 to 390hz monitors and can confidently point out which one is which without being told.
Most pros stopped using 360Hz monitor because they can’t maintain that kind of stable frame rate yet with modern CPUs. So 240Hz is the sweet spot right now in terms of price and performance.
