lol wut? Its been all over the place that it requires a full game install…
It’s an optimization patch. The games been updated for over two years and it was starting to get bloated so blizzard did some work on the games foundation that requires a full reinstall.

The background update reduces the time to download the current patch.
I got the BG download yesterday too… Current patch took like 30 seconds to download.
Does anyone not see the forums tag at the top? It’s been known for awhile that 1.30 reinstalls the game unless you already downloaded PTR…
Probably looots of background stuff for that update Jeff mentioned.

It’s pretty much a bran new engine.
I know this, but yesterday’s download was literally only 6gb.
It’s like it never reinstalled OW on battlenet and idk why.
No I’ve never downloaded ptr.
I’m on Xbox so maybe that’s why. Also I had no idea there was going to be a huge patch like this one, has it been said anywhere?
It actually did uninstall/reinstall, but it did it in the form of that update.
I didn’t download the ptr either.
Yeah they announced it, and even pinned it at the top of the forum page.

For me it was a very small patch, took maybe a minute.
Blizz has a stickied post at the top of the fourms for several days now, mentioning why the patch requires a full reinstall.

Yeah… This huge patch was known about for weeks. They let us know beforehand.
They announced a week ago that this patch reinstalls the entire game.
Mine was only 500mb 
Seems oddly small
Installed the pre patch other day (6gb), don’t have the ptr installed either.
They went out of their way to say it’ll be big.
Maybe look at the pinned posts.
This patch comes with this really cool feature where it’ll fill the 12th person onto the team that’s already got 6 people, making a neat 5v7. But it doesn’t stop there, the game will stop the match and restart it from the very beginning (So if you had any rounds won or objectives controlled… well not anymore) as it scrambles the teams to make it a 6v6 again. But it’ll keep loading up a 5v7, so you’ll just spend the next 5-10 minutes having the match restarted over and over again until it finally gets it right.
This. Multiple reports of people saying no increase in performance too.
I do wonder what’s going on.

Weirdly, this patch was only 1-2GB for me, and I don’t have the PTR ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh well, better not question it.
