It’s been a week or so that matches in latin american servers keep puting you in servers with 200ms and it’s impossible to play. Any idea when is this going to be fixed?
From Perú, always had 110-130 ping since start of OW2. Similar to most AAA multiplayer games I always play. Still the same for OW2 for me.
I mean, here at south/latin america we are ****** because almost no company has servers here. Only company I know that have Peruvian servers where we can play at 20-40 ping is Valve, like TF2, L4D2, CSGO, etc.
And OW I think had a server in Argentina, but they closed, they should invest in servers in more south american countries.
That is funny joke. Yes, very funny.
It would be really historic, to have a company other than Valve with servers here in Perú, they’ll get peruvian players in an instant.
But Blizzard is afraid of success. Like KoMONEY.
They had a server for the southern cone in Chile, but they shot it down during OW1. A big reason why OW dropped off in south america is that almost 10 spanish speaking countries are being forced to play with brazilians.
They have been cutting down on costs for years, they shut down a US server lately too, west coast I think.
Yeah, If im not mistaken the “south american” OW servers like the WoW “south american” servers, are just brazilian servers, and if I’m not mistaken again, their real location is in EE.UU. which makes it pointless because you want the real location of the server close to you.
Man, Blizzard could make history, but they close a AAA server for chilean people, and the people close to Chile, dumb decision.
They used to have a server in Brazil, but I don’t what happened recently, cause matches are getting ~180ms in the last couple of days/weeks.
nooo me gustaaaa
No, there was an actual node in Chile and people had very low ping for years. Once the game started on a decline, they shut it down and now that same people have 80 ping and are forced to play with brazilians in their server.
The Americas region is indeed the entire macro continent of America so for example someone from chile could play with someone from canada without having to swap regions, but each area had several server nodes that allowed low ping while playing.
WoW servers are different because they are all closed from one another, and there were never actual server nodes in south america aside Brazil.
Last time I checked the server in Brazil still exists, if only so ‘‘quarantine’’ brazilians away from the US.
Oh yeah, I know that “that” server really was located in south america (Chile as you say), I was talking about the nowadays servers, because last time I played “south america region/realm” World of Warcraft, the real server location is in EE.UU., if I’m not mistaken, I think they do have a database in brazil, but for WoW they don’t actually have real servers there, I think some mods on the WoW forums talked about it?
Update: I read on the WoW forums that at least in 2022 they did have OW1 database in brazil, but not for WoW.
OW and WoW servers are vastly different from each other.
In OW there is technically only 3 servers: Americas, Asia and Europe. Each server has several ‘‘nodes’’ that let people play with decent ping and they default to those by proximity, but are still able to play with someone more far away within the same server if they are in the same party, but alone people default to their closest node.
There used to be at least 2 nodes in south america, one in Chile and one in Brazil, but they removed the Chile one and now there is only the Brazil node.
