I hope the people in charge of the pricing for the shop items realize that not a lot of people will pay that much money for mediocre skins and emotes.
$5-$10 I can understand. And you’d probably get more people to spend money if the pricing was more realistic to what you’re getting.
$20-$30 for that ugly green JunkerQueen skin? What? I don’t see that being worth my money.
Look at forkknife with it’s multimillion dollar cross over skins. You can get something for $5 and it is on the same level as overwatch mythic skins.
Not saying I’m a fan of the whole monetization thing that’s happening but if you’re going to do it, then take a look at other games and how they make fair and appealing prices/deals.
Like, most of the new skins/items you pay for are things I would be disappointed to get from a free lootbox in OW1.
Tl;Dr
Item shop prices are too high to reflect what they are offering imo
It’s a bundle that comes with other stuff and it’s $20 (no where near $30). As for why it’s considered a legendary, it’s probably because it’s the skin/look in her animated short that came out a month ago.
I think individual cosmetic prices should be lowered but the BP and bundles are honestly fine. £15-17 is what I expected from the Bundle if I add everything up (£10 for skin and £5-7 for everything else).
So many crossovers. I saw an article that blizzard wants to do the same with Overwatch. Good luck with that. You gotta be successful and prove people want to buy from the shop first.
I opened up Apex, I saw a $200 skin. I opened up CS GO and saw things selling for over a thousand dollars (knife skins not even real skins). I opened up LoL an saw $20 skins in addition to some of the most P2W monetization in the entire industry (several thousand hours to unlock all the champions or pay over a thousand dollars and that still is not everything).
Are you sure you want Blizzard looking at other games monetization models because that will not end well for us?
Honestly I think that doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t make sense to add discounts to a pre-launched client imho. If it’s a permanent discount (like how you get extra OW coins if you buy the larger coin packages), that would also be fine.
Probably would add up to around £5. If you want my personal opinion, I think it could be lower but as of now, it’s not completely intolerable like the individual price of cosmetics.
I mean, at the end of the day it would cost money to make. The only reason we don’t see it as such is because we’ve effectively been receiving it for free for the past 6 years. It’s the same reason people are so shocked at the idea of £10 skin bundles. Before OW2, it was practically free but clearly the previous system wasn’t sustaining if they’re switching their model.
Me too. Like I said, individual prices are inflated and need lowering. The bundles are decently priced though and the BP is hella generous for the F2P industry. I play a lot of Wild Rift but the BP sucks. I grinded 60 or 80 levels levels just to get a single skin and poro coins which can be converted to poro essence every 200 coins which is then used to get a randomised skin chest after you get over 10000 essence. BP standards in a lot of F2P games suck way harder than OW2.
Forkknkife is the game I like to use as an example because their way of selling skins is the least offensive imo. Plus, they just have better quality skins
I am one of the bigger whales here, pretty much got every skin in this game except the first 2 Blizzcon Skins, completed D.Vas OWL Set, bought 2 Pink Mercys (even though I never play Mercy), etc. I pretty much tried to keep the collection complete qhich was fine for OW1.
Definitely not gonna do that for OW2 1900 Coins (seems to be roughly 20$/€) for a regular Legendary Skin from the hero gallery just seems like way to much money imo. I’m fine with getting all the Battle passes but for extra Skins I’ll probably stick to Skins I REALLY plan on using and only for Heroes I really like.
the skin us ugly af and no one cares about the spray or voiceline… even charging money for this is a ripoff. lmao
also good mentioning… fortnite does indeed do mythic skins… for years now and do not charge this amount of money… since people like compare ow2 to other f2p games.
I can pay $5 and play as Master Chief or I can pay $20 and be green.
If they do decide that the prices in the beginning are ridiculous and decide to lower future prices, then I hope they refund old buyers some coins to use.
it just proves ow2 is here to milk people… nothing else. bad made skins with overpriced tags on them… quality bad, prizes high… also shop sale/discount on day one… yea sure.
$5-8 for epics, depending on how much they change, and $10 for a legendary, not including pack bundles just the skins
I would actually probably be inclined to spend more than I realize at those prices if they were good skins for heroes I like or new heroes I wanna try
But the fact that they consider $20 a “deal” with the sprays and voice lines etc included, and charge $19 in OW coins for just the skin… it literally makes me never want to buy anything. It costs my entire currency stock from the watchpoint pack to buy ONE skin. I get 16 from spending that on two battlepasses.
There is one good deal in the entire shop, it’s the 500 coins + an exclusive Doom skin for the same price as 500 coins. The shop should try to do more stuff like that, that actually makes me want to buy the pack because I like OW2 Doomfist as well but everything else is throwing away money imo, they’d get more from a TON of small to reasonable sales than a few whales
…the problem with comments like this is you’re looking at it from your own perspective and financial situation (which is fair but shows you can’t look at things from other people’s perspective).
Some children/adults have lots of disposable income and are happy to spend it as they see fit. $20 to you may be like $2 to them…
The doomfist bundle is called “Starter Pack: Season One”, so I think they’ll do that every season. It’s honestly a really good deal. I mainly wish that the older skins were cheaper.
