Hello, I was in comp queue, and in an aim trainer workshop mode. Very shortly into the queue/training, I was forcibly booted back to my desktop. When I relaunched OW, I was back in the queue somehow. My temps were fine (45c) and I don’t believe there was anything wrong with my computer. I was playing earlier today with no issues as well.
The same thing happened to me tonight. I hadn’t played in a few weeks and jumped on for the event. Got booted out of comp three times, the last one I was unable to rejoin.
No glitches, no graphical issues, nothing I can pin it on. I’ve been playing other games on my PC just fine in the meantime. The crash is immediate, and to desktop. No error reporter appears. Never had issues with OW until now, completely out of the blue.
Just to confirm, you never got a game but only was closed during the search queue correct?
I believe you are encountering the same bug that is being reported here, but more often than not it happens in games, however, there have been a few reports of it happening outside of a match.

No, it was during a (competitive) game. The crashes were roughly a minute apart. I was able to rejoin twice, but the third time I was not, and I called it a night.
Probably unrelated, but I started a “Scan and Repair” on Overwatch, which changed the button to “Update” but now it never finishes the scan, it quits with “Whoops! Looks like something broke.” I’m chalking that up to the “We are currently conducting a live maintenance…” but who knows?
Quick update: for me, reinstalling the game seems to have fixed the problem.
When I initially did “Scan and Repair,” it wouldn’t go past 99%. I waited a day or two, trying in the meantime, but it never succeeded. So I reinstalled the game (deleting the directory manually after the launcher uninstalled it) and also deleting the Overwatch folder in ~/Documents.
