2-2-2 solves so many problems IMO

2-2-2 in QP and COMP solves so many problems! Why not just try it in arcade or ptr to see what happens.

No more cheese comps, no more 5 dps comps, no more goats, no more one tricks, etc etc etc. And, IMO it would make OWL a better viewing experience (which to let’s all be honest here outside of loot box sales OWL is the primary concern)!

If Blizzard wants people to play this game, to watch this game via streams, for the game to become healthy, and fun then they need to do something!

Ok, I feel better, just played a game vs Symm, Mei, Bastion Moria, Dva, and Rein. Horribad experience I would not reccomend it.

How does it solve the fact that 97% of players only want to play DPS? By massively increasing their queue time?

I play Overwatch for the freedom that you can have when it comes to hero choice, and more importantly, hero countering.
2-2-2 restricts that and will force a maximum of 2-3 different team compositions.

There are just some things you know won’t work without needing to test them.

2-2-2 does not restrict compositions like that at all. It cuts out all the BS where some roles are under represented. It also allows for easier design of heroes so that you don’t have to worry about stacking of heroes. Brig could be designed better. DVa could get competition that doesn’t just get run with her. The metas that haven’t been 2-2-2 have actually led to fewer team compositions

Are you claiming that we’d have the exact same level of freedom with a 2-2-2 restriction?

Considering that you could design heroes to work without worrying about them breaking when stacked and thus allow for more varied design that doesn’t break the game, I’d say yes

You keep running back to the “broken when stacked” argument. What is an example of this right now that you feel would be fixed with the 2-2-2 restriction?

GOATs is a prime example. Triple DPS was for abit before Dva was found to be good. Original Trip tank

How about instead of 2-2-2 role queue.

You can pick a team composition, then do role queue.

honestly just one mandatory tank and one mandatory healer would make the game so much better. yesterday I played with a random group in qp and won every game but 1 because we had at least one tank (that wasn’t throwing ball… that’s pretty much an auto loss with solo tank hammond :rofl:) in every game. usually we had two and another healer most games too. (and i actually wanted to play healer for them) this was the best overwatch session I had in ages and I played until about 3am when I should have been sleeping. lol I just didn’t want to stop!

It was so nice to finally play multiple games in a row without 5 dps instalock throwers who won’t switch. it reminded me why I actually loved this game so much when I started playing.

Doesn’t solve the problem. Especially with your no damage role

OG dive had just 2 compositions, one with Genji and one with Pharmacy, and eventually you got an Orisa based counter dive.
Once Widow got buffed it was only up to 4 comps.
GOATS has Winston swapping in for Rein or D.va, and Zen can be swapped out for an Ana or Moira. It has also led to attempts at a quad-DPS counter, a Bastion counter, Doom/Sombra dive used to be a thing with a McCree comp to counter it.
There’s a lot more diversity now in the triple support meta than there was in most of the dive metas.

I played a ton of LFG.

Flex roles and Damage roles were pretty interchangeable.

Gotta have some restrictions. It is a restriction system after all.

But you could always pick 6Flex.

So I don’t really understand the complaint.

2-2-2 restriction would indeed kick these comps out, but in it’s place will be different comps that could be just as oppressive. Every single meta that’s existed in this game has been called “unfun to watch”, “unfun to play against”, etc. From dive, to triple DPS, to triple tank, to now GOATS. The 2-2-2 restriction will kill most of these comps, and in it’s place will be another “meta” comp that people will dislike, for the most part because it’s popular. I cannot stress that Overwatch is about freedom to do as you please, weather that be for your enjoyment, your wanting to play the heroes that you’re adept with, and sometimes to the detriment of the team.
I’ve lost more games with people who filled roles because they were not good at them than I have with people who played to their strengths.
