✅ [2-2-2] DPS streamers gonna quit

A half decent match, is better than no match.

YOU DID IT! YOU DEFEATED ROLE QUEUE!
I’m so proud of you.

so why not just get rid of role queue up at those levels…theyre GM (or better)…you would think they have to have some level of game sense to know how to play the game at those levels…theyve clearly made it to those levels despite the possibility of the dreaded “5-dps” games…

theres no way to poll all of those players…but i would be curious to see how they would vote if given the option

streaming is an entirely different world. If they want to be successful they need to go with the latest and most popular audience drawers. If OW ain’t it they need to adapt or get a day job. This really has no bearing on actual gameplay.

That is a possible option, considering the really high winrate requirements.

However that means GM would have metas that are different from the rest of ladder.

Unless you’re thinking about that RoleLockRace they initially had on Quickplay. Or something line what Apex has, but with Roles.

They don’t need to do anything!

There will be new players to take the spotlights, attention seekers everywhere.

Kinda hard to do that when DPS queue times aren’t going down, unless they fix the systemic issues.

I don’t get the salt against streamers.
They are vital to keep the game alive

It’s kinda like the salt against OWL, with people wanting OWL to stop. Not realizing it would probably kill the game entirely. If not Blizzard as a whole.

i guess the question im posing is how necessary is role queue at those levels? like if youre at that level that means you managed to get there despite all the weird comps and such (or maybe it wasnt as often as we think up there and they do play metas and such)…i assume because the players are good enough to overcome them or are more willing to do whats necessary for the group (i have no way of proving this)

like if there was a way to do this across the entire top tier of the game…how many people there would say the change was needed OR how many would say the wait times are worth it?

It is necessary.
ML7 complained about similar issues we faced down the ranks

I think RoleBasedSR is really important for those skill tiers. Because almost every single player who got to those skill tiers, did it while specializing in one role.

They do, but get put into tank or support. Many viewers aren’t there for tank or support gameplay, nor do they want to wait around watching a queue screen.

It’s the same reason why DPS is a popular role because tank and support isn’t as appealing. This isn’t just a streamer thing.

again i wouldnt know…im posing the question…

but to what youre saying…how many would say the wait times are worth it though? how game changing is it for them vs say the people down in gold…

Agree, But after my opinion this is not necessary at all,
there are more players who can play without streaming.

If I want to see a stream, I watch owl where the professionals play, or something that has been recorded.

I wouldn’t worry too much about streamers, it’s already a pretty dead market 99% of the time. Ow post some of the worst numbers on twitch other than a few key streamers and the OWL broadcast.

Seriously I’ve seen live streams of 20 year old games with more viewers.

I won’t argue though the role que wait times are pretty nuts. Not only do you wait a super long time for generally speaking a pretty lousy match (as the teams seem very uneven with 6 stacks vs solo’s since you can’t tell any more). But there is also the server attacks going on that cause constant disconnects, which cancel matches of force you to fight 5v6.

So after waiting 8+ minutes to get into a match it could be garbage, canceled or you could be disconnected and lose 50 sr and told to wait again…

Very simple if you ask me,
most of them walk next to their shoes and often behave like narcissists.

I also stream sometimes, but only for a few friends.

And the more savvy dps streamers have already begun to take alternative measures. They queue with friends who run tanks or supports and cut their queue times. They learn tanks and supports and multi queue. Or they start playing other games as well and try to develop their fan base.

It’s the entertainment industry. Change to fit the situation, or fade to obscurity.

Unfortunately they wouldn’t dude. You see, they’re more focused towards viewers numbers. And streaming isn’t particularly fun when you’re tanking and healing (unless you’re xqc, ML7 although they’re two entirely different kinds of people) as most people go into games to see dps plays right now. As a result, there’s a lot of streamers doing unranked to gm ‘challenges’. It’s just the way they are. When I was in mid masters maining tank, I’d end up solo tanking matches after matches. Same for my bried stay in gm. You’d think they’d fill. But they never do.

To be honest, I’m less worried about the streamers careers, than I am that they provide a valuable advertising source for the game.

And that for every big streamer that quits, that’s 10,000+ players who just got told “Overwatch sucks, you should play something else”.
