As we know, Overwatch is basically a fighting game with objectives.
I thought it’d be fun to do a tier list with all the heroes in the game and how they stack up in a 1v1. Tier placement is determined by how good a heroes matchups are against the entirety of the cast, but given this is a matter of opinion I would welcome any suggestion as to whether a hero is placed too high or too low.
–S Tier–
1.Roadhog
– Good matchup spread across the board, with really only having 1 disadvantageous matchup against Reaper, and couple even ones against Tracer and Mei.
–A Tier–
2. Tracer
– Only really held back by low Hp pool, and having a slightly negative matchup against Mccree, and a bad one against Brigitte
3. Mei
– CC + 150dmg headshots make Mei pretty nasty, but having poor matchups against most of the tank line does count her out of that top spot
4. Moira
– Great squishie matchups, horrendous against tanks with her low dps basically being a feather duster against large HP pools
5. Widowmaker
– Excellent matchups against heroes with little vertical mobility, as well as being decent against most tanks. Has a couple of notable poor ones against Genji, Winston.
6. Doomfist
– High mobility + One shots gives Doom good options against everyone, even giving him a way to play around his weakness to CC. Big hitbox and low range does mean that closing the gap can be a challenge
–B Tier–
7. Hanzo
– My lack of experience with Hanzo means I don’t have a lot to say, but good vertical mobility and one shots on squishies as well as high damage burst gives him good options against most of the cast, but not having any matchup being overwhelming in his favour.
8. Winston
– Probably has the best Mobility in the game, with good survivability and solid matchups against most squishies, but having some of the hardest counters in the game does put a damper on his tier placement.
9. Reaper
– Massive damage potential, even against slimmer targets mean that Reaper’s only real disadvantage is range.
10. D.Va
– Similar to Winston in most respects, with a slightly more situational damage mitigation ability but higher damage output.
11.Brigitte
– I bet you were expecting this further up. Sorry to disappoint but Brig has some absolutely terrible matchups against Pharah, Reaper and Junkrat, as well as losing to Reinhardt, arguable the worst 1v1 hero. But she does have good tools, two CC abilites + a self heal are pretty formidable.
12. Mccree
– A good all-rounder, with good burst, a CC ability and a disengage (sorta). No real bad matchups, but only a couple of good ones.
13. Junkrat
– Similar to Reaper but a little less consistent due to projectiles, as well as not having the ability to ignore CC
14. Ana
– Surprising I know but her versatile kit means that she has few disadvantages against most heroes.

–B Tier–
15. Genji
– I have mixed feelings about Genji. I feel as though it comes down to whether the other hero/player can play around deflect. Honestly he probably belongs in mid A tier but I don’t think that his shruikens are that good of a damage source and compared to the other top tiers his matchups are mostly even.
16. Lucio
– Excellent mobility and sustain, with a decent shoot boop melee combo for burst, but not superior to other duelling supports (Moira, Brig).
