With seeing the necros playstyle(The guy quickly dashes in and out with the reset on genji) I was wondering why not make 180 turns a mechanic in game allowing character with a small delay to turn exactly 180? For people of difference sensitivity they tune their sensitivity for aim more than turning speeds and for some people doing a 180 turn takes forever. It could even have a small cd similar to meele so that people cant spam it like during rez or something.
I think the only game I’ve seen do this is Left 4 Dead on console
180º turns are a mechanic on many games, so I don’t see a good reason to not implement it tbh.
Shouldn’t we have to actually play our heroes at some point? They are adding more and more automatic targeting, low mechanical skill stuff to the game. Where is the challenge?
This would really help me out on console, though I have no idea what it would be mapped to.
But how does this feature demand less skill from you? I mean all it does is help people who play at low sensitivity turn faster. People on high sens already do this thing. This has nothing to do with help aim or redcue mechanical skill. Not everyone can get a mouse with automatic sensitivity shifts attached to it so they can quickly toggle between set sensitivities to do their tricks. This just allows people to move around smoothly even with bad equipment.
Took me a while to make a 180° perfect turn with tracer… also 90° and 45° turn without delay or stop to adjust…
I dont see a reason to make this skill a botton u just click… maybe only on console
That would completely destroy the challenge of heroes like Genji / Tracer that need to do consistent 180s. No thanks. The last thing this game needs right now is less mechanical skill.
Kinda still don’t understand. People who play at very high sens don’t need the skill that low sens mouses need for genji and traer? People who sensitivity toggle fit in their mouse can quickly change to get the benefit without learning to move their mouse all the way to the end of the mouse pad which I mean is troublesome than a learning curve. Doesn’t genji and tracer demand tracking of targets when they move around or blink more than just 180 turns?
The challenge of… turning around? I am not sure how it works in Overwatch, but back when I played Call of Duty, I had my sensitivity jacked so high that instantly turning around was not a challenge in the slightest. I would not really call that mechanical skill, but perhaps I am just too conservative with the term.
I don’t really see the point. 180 headshot/ sleep dart feels good when you get used to it. Practice makes perfect
I don’t play on console so I can’t speak for that. On PC, doing quick and precise 180s is a mechanical skill. Players like Necros practice 180s in the practice range every single day before queuing up so they can keep up and develop muscle memory. When you’re playing Tracer, you need to be able to blink through a target and instantly snap back onto the target with a fast 180 so you don’t lose out on time trying to reorient yourself. Giving players access to a button that just does it for you removes a lot of skill from those heroes and everybody who has worked on perfecting those techs is going to feel like that was all for nothing.
A decent chunk of Genji and Tracer players in Masters’+ are using 180 turn macros. 180 turns should be a thing for all heroes at the press of a button, just like Left 4 Dead, but I can see why it isn’t in.
