Hello, I’m an absolute idiot with a mental disorder for believing words can hurt. I should see a therapist because it’s unhealthy for things like this get to me. No one’s ever been physically injured, emotionally injured, killed, or committed suicide over these things. They should just suck it up and move on because life’s tough and having a thick skin is part of being an adult.

Can this get removed yet or do I need to keep going? Do I need to regurgitate the same things over and over just so people get a glimpse of what I’m saying?

I want this removed; I hope someone dies or commits over some form of online bullying or online racism directly connectee to the Overwatch community. Or someone does something stupid to the person that called them a name online. Everyone’s already informed me thoroughly, people are stupid and will do things for attention. Maybe that’s what it takes for people to see that action isn’t something that comes with time.

Just flag this god awful post and get it removed.

Blizzard Support may not be the best at the moment, or the report system. Of course there are some flaws within the system. I know you may think it doesn’t do much, but seriously the only best option you as a player can do to help the community is to report block and move on.

But why?
Why would you do that?
Why would you do any of that?

I cant just let them go without making them at least think

Unfortunately the automated system Overwatch uses can’t differenciate between the types of toxicity…Also this:

Literally just mute them.

And if you won’t mute them, don’t interact with obvious pot-stirrers then complain about it on the forums. I don’t want to “victim blame” here…but you did this to yourself. No one is forcing you to listen to their crap.

that is mistake then.

How can anything change if no one takes a stand to stop people like this? If no one tries to make a difference? Do I wait for someone else to fix the problem? Or do I be proactive and make people think about the garbage coming from their thoughts? I could mute them. But then the next people, the ones in depression, on the edge, get called the fword or the nword. For the hundredth time.

It is a problem. Blizzard needs to at least acknowledge it.

One person =/= entire community
The title is exaggerated

If this is the case doesn’t mean that posting this thread literally feed him?

there is a sizeable portion of the playebase that’s exactly like these people. and probably, but i dont care as long as it’s seen by the people that can help

So you want everyone to think and act the same because you can’t find the mute button?

That’s kinda deranged.

This generation…

Why go around getting offended by EVERYTHING, what’s it achieve? Nothing except getting yourself angry and upset. Are you such a dreamer you think you can change the world?

Let people think what they think, and say what they say. In your head know otherwise. You won’t change them. They exist, they are what they are. Half of them just want a reaction. Every apple tree has some bad ones.

Avoid those people, they are vexations to the spirit.

In overwatch, mute, report , move on. Get on with your day knowing you’re a nicer person than them. Seek out the good, ignore the bad. Don’t go stressing, just worry about your own friends and family, not some twonk 300 miles away who’s probably having issues in their life. They will get theirs, they always do, they are probably already suffering inside.

Your problem was thinking that random internet trolls looking to make a mess were going to listen to a stranger over the voice chat.

This sounds harsh, but they knew what they were doing. They were probably laughing at you, honestly. I’m literally having a discussion with a self-proclaimed troll right now on another thread - They don’t care what they say. They don’t care what you say. They just want to offend and tilt.

I’m sure you have the best intentions here, but honestly it’s best that you just mute and report people like that. Nothing you say will stop trolls from trolling. Believe me, they know how awful they’re being. They simply couldn’t care less.

Blizzard has acknowledged that toxicity is a problem in Overwatch, but unfortunately the report system is trash.

The world? No. But I would certainly like to change the parts of it I can, the parts of it I interact with. One part of that is the video games I play. I’d like it to be nicer for everyone.

Problem is too many people stay silent and let it happen. But then the risk is if you do speak up, you get banned. Such is the hopeless report system.

No clue why people keep repeating “report, block and move on” as if people don’t already do that. The problem is nothing still gets done.

As someone who’s experienced racism, homophobia and seen sexism in real life, I get used to seeing these things happen in gaming. At the end of the day, you’re not going to convince xXboostedgenjiXx that black lives matter, or that girls are just as good at games as guys by speaking to him. Privileged people with those mindsets have no reason to change, because they don’t experience oppression and so they’re fine with discrimination. Trying to educate them will not work, and you shouldn’t waste your energy on it.

I want to see real change that’s BIGGER than trying to convince a guy in a video game that he’s wrong. I’ve been to BLM protests, signed petitions, posted anti-racist resources on social media, spoken out in real life when I see sexism, corrected uneducated people who might misuse someone’s pronouns, told someone not to use certain slurs, invited friends to protests/spoken to them about racism, and overall? That is a good change. And it will actually contribute to a better future.

TLDR? Don’t waste time trying to educate those who don’t want to listen, make positive decisions which will actually change things.
