120FPS, does it make a difference

I play this setting the Series S instead of 60, my TV doesn’t display 120 frames don’t really know if it makes the game more responsive but feel like it does, maybe just imagining it, anyone know for sure?

Game with high freq input setting uses mouse input rate (1000hz basically), otherwise its tied to the server tick rate (65hz or something).

What its for the keyboard input? No idea. I would guess its 65hz

If you mean display delay - higher FPS reduces delay, to some degree, meaning 120 fps better than 60

It’ll only show what your TV supports so you may not really be seeing anything. It may be smoother in a sense that the graphics are lower (to support 120 fps) so there’s probably less frame drops in crowded fights in general if that makes sense.

I play on the Xbox series S using a controller.

Aw. 120 fps is better then

Yes that makes sense, I did not know it lowered graphics btw, just thought it boosted frames, thanks for explaining.

Double the FPS of your Hz can help, after that it starts getting a bit pointless.
Server tick is rumoured to be 24. lol.

To my understanding all that exceeding the max supported frequency of your monitor/TV does is, that on average the image that you get on the screen is a bit more “up to date”, while it doesn’t improve the frame time itself (which would be about 16.67 ms at 60 fps).

You can check in-game. 65 or something.

exceeding will push new frame before old is done showing to you, leading to screen tear.
cause half (or 1/3, 1/4 whatever) is more up-to-date, thats correct.

where in game is that?

If you mean Xbox it’s in settings, you have:

1080p60
1080p120
1400p60

Been messing with 60 and 120 a fair bit unsure if there was difference.

Game will be more responsive, but you won’t really see the improvement without a 120hz-or-more capable screen.

It’s barely noticeable, I just remember it saying that when you switch to 120 fps there’s a “cost” of some image quality and maybe resolution.

I thought so, will keep it on 120 then, response (feel) in a shooter is more important to me than high fidelity.

It makes a world of difference.

When I first started playing on the new FPS it felt so smooth and helped my aim.
