During the first week of June, I was beyond fed up with the state of OW.
I hated Beta 1, yet OW1 simultaneously felt like trash. I believed (and still do) that the writing was on the wall for this franchise barring divine intervention in the form of Microsoft.
So I consciously quit OW. It helped tremendously that I was falling out with former friends at the time, which were basically the only reason I was still queuing the game. But OW felt terrible. And removing a tank (myself being a Rein OTP) makes the prospective future of tanking a dismal affair.
I then moved on to Destiny 2 which I had been casually queuing since the start of The Witch Queen.
The design of the game rewards the investment of time one commits to the game. At the same time, the design of the game also benefits highly intellectual players to the point they can solo carry the highest tiers of content with ease. It’s honestly wildly refreshing to commit to a title with such high player autonomy.
Overwatch on the other hand has players with literally thousands of hours in the game who are still hard stuck gold. Because longevity in OW simply doesn’t equal skill. Longevity in Destiny doesn’t equal skill either, but at the very least a tenured player is going to have access to some powerful gear and mods that can supplement a carry.
Differences aside, Destiny has been a fantastic experience. And today, we enter the final day of the season in Destiny 2. Tomorrow our next season begins and Arc 3.0 drops.
If you’re interested in Destiny 2, now is the time to join!
The subclass reworks have created an opportunity to impart an individual stamp on one’s guardian and playstyle, making it truly feel like a MMO RPG.
I am entering my 12th week without OW. I would like to return to the title in the future, but it pains me that the current leadership still exists. I know OW2 will be the same BS as OW1 without tangible changes to leadership. I know OW1 is still a hot mess I’d immediately get fed up with too.
As a PVE gamer first and a Borderlands 1 release player, I would love to return to OW2 for it’s PVE. But again, why subject oneself to a title whose leadership is in no way dedicated to competitive integrity, content, or balance?
The only way to enact any change in this title is to quit. Make Blizzard’s wallet run dry and force Microsoft to step in and overhaul the leadership. It’s easier than you think, and I’m proof of it.
TLDR
-OW is terrible because of its leadership
-Same leaders for OW2=Same trash game
-Quitting is the only solution to force MS to overhaul leadership
-Destiny 2 is really cool and has some majorly intuitive and fun content dropping tomorrow
