10pm used to still be fairly peak time - now it's dead!

Just played 3 games and 1 of the other players that moaned about stuff was in all 3 games. Can there really be so few players in EU that they just throw the same players into a match after the previous match finishes (this was the only one I noticed because they said stuff in chat the first game but others possibly duplicates as well).

This is pretty sad if this is all that is playing in EU QP at 10pm on a Tuesday!!

Avoid as teammate or wait a minute between games. This one’s on you.

Seriously? You think if there was a healthy player population you would get the same players in your games? I am gold/plat or something - where most of the players are - and I get 3 games in a row with the same player on 1 of the teams?

That’s a sure sign of a lack of players. Not something to “avoid player and it’s on you”. Come on, how can you not see how bad OW is getting for the player base size?

If they are close in mmr, and Ping, and go into the queue at the same time. Wouldn’t you expect there to be a pretty good chance to be matched with them again?

Even more so if you guys are in groups and not solo.

But I thought Blizzard said there were 27 million players?

Or was it their profit?

10pm is peak time during like weekends and stuff. Most people have work or school during the week. The only people who consistently play at 10pm on a weekday are unemployed people or people who just don’t work the next day.

They usually mean over all platforms when they talk about this. Let’s not forget Overwatch still maintains a massive console playerbase.

Last time I tried doing OQ CP the queue times for me were around 10 to 30 minutes. I didn’t pay attention when it passed 20 minutes, but the game started and was cancelled because I was AFK. Would it kill Blizzard to add a confirmation before the match starts?

It’s a sign that you are queueing at the exact same time as the people from your last match, nothing more.

I doubt it - the MM will be looking for people you haven’t played with in the last game for variety. Otherwise you would constantly be playing with the same people.

This used to only be an off-peak issue. As you got to 1am and later you start to see the same people over and over. But during busier times you generally don’t see them more than once every 10 games or something.

The fact I am seeing the same player repeatedly game after game implies there are very few players to choose from. And they were support, not tank, so there should really be a few to choose from, especially at my level in the middle of the bell curve.

“Millions of players” is an entirely useless metric. That’s why they give it to us. It could be millions of unique players over a year for all we know.

Average concurrent number of players is the real one that’s important.

Anyone still think the mass tank and support exodus is not real? Overwatch is currently at one of its lowest points ever.

There are more people with full time jobs than you think that are up at that time. Many don’t have to wake up till 7-8, or even later. So can be up till midnight or so and still get a good amount of sleep. I generally go to bed at 1-2 and get up at 9 for work.

Blizzard: oh, we even haven’t begun.

People leaving the game for other games similar to overwatch or just different games in general and with how the game is currently I don’t blame them honestly

are you stupid?? lmao

Yes, because itd be convenient for the matchmaker. You’re two people in the same MMR range queueing at the same time.

Did they say this before or after closing in China

If it was before I think they would have lost at least more than a third of it

It’s still peak time for the game, but… that’s just what the peak is nowadays

I play on EU server and usually somewhere in between 19-00 to 01-00
I still see new nicknames, but some I remember after few games ( like RAX, Kitsuki support, SKAI battle Mercy, Victor that leaves right at the start of a Match as he see me ect.)

Like it’s ok to see familliar faces - they just play each day… but when you see the same 4-5 stack against you for 3-4 times in a row I just leave the game as I’m a solo player :smiling_face_with_tear:

I am comparing this to several months ago when I would never see the same people, even across a whole session (the ones that talk in chat that you remember because of the stupid stuff they say). Now people are in 3 games in a row together. That is a massive difference.

It’s nothing to do with what you think is peak time, it’s more to do with how things have changed because of the reduced number of players even from 3 or 4 months ago.

And if you think people that have work/school in the morning are all going to bed at 10pm then you’re living in a different world from me.
