Can I get some help ? I’ve also noticed the overwatch.exe go up towards 68% CPU usage as well. I have an Intel I7 8700K CPU, there’s no reason for this to be happening all of the sudden.
Recently started seeing “applying update” when the game is switching maps to a new game as well.

Try right-clicking the bnet icon and pausing background updates. As for seeing the “Applying Update,” this is normal.
Sorry right clicking doesn’t give me any option like that, assuming you meant the icon that is sitting on the task bar when it’s running? when this happens there is no game that is actually performing an update but the CPU is just getting hit hard by this process. If I end task on it, things go back to normal.
The icon in the system tray, not task bar, actually. Sorry that wasn’t more clear.
It’s grayed out so it doesn’t let me select it.
Hmmm. Well, I know the game will use a lot of CPU if it’s available. Is it causing other issues when it’s doing this? Also, have you checked for overheating?
The only issues it’s causing is preventing me from running the game, no it doesn’t cause a heating problem. When I see it hit 100% my CPU temp doesn’t go over 60c , I think more or so because I have a decent liquid cooler and also because I took the extra initiative to delid the CPU apply the Liquid metal to the die because intel’s TIM is let’s say , garbage

Its just odd to me that the update agent runs when it’s not really updating any games but that is just my analysis of it, not really sure why it would be running other than updating xD
I’m wondering if there’s a conflict with something else happening. The staff can generally look over more specific logs/files via ticket, so it’s worth opening one of those to check this out.
Thank you, it has not happened again in a few days so maybe it was just a fluke or something. I’ve not also not experienced what everyone else was reporting so maybe I’m just one of the lucky ones. I guess now it’s resolved but I’ll keep my eye on it.
The game files are all on an SSD so even when the cpu does spike over 80% it doesn’t take long to go back to normal, but it’s weird , I’ve never seen a blizzard process go that high
