It makes perfect sense up until the match starts, and the first battle and objective is won… but when you win it too fast and some salty dude quits, it cancels the game and stops all SR from changing.
That isn’t fair.
It happens way too much as well.
The 10 second timer to cancel the game should only be applied IF a person disconnects before the first fight or before the first objective is taken (whichever is first)… not after.
a counter argument, while its still frustrating, it does help the team that person left from. in comp its frequently a huge disadvantage to be down a person. if you lose people youre not quite garunteed to lose but theres a better chance you will. and that of course drops your SR.
10 seconds is ridiculous. Nobody can rejoin in 10 seconds. Either cancel it right away when someone leaves or pause the damn match and give the guy/girl a minute.

I have no problems with the match being cancelled if the leaver occurs BEFORE the first fight has concluded… after that, and a point is won, and someone quits. It penalises the winning team for NO reason.
Why penalise 6 people for the benefit of 5?
Because if you quickly take the first point you were most likely already fighting a 6 versus 5. In most connection latency issues, a player’s hero will stay in game as much as 45 seconds before the server kicks them out.
The person likely quit before the first point is captured, but the game doesn’t know it yet. DC’s aren’t instant. Sometimes it takes the server a bit to detect the disconnect.
A lot of the times, that first-point cap that you got within the first 30 seconds of the game is because they were defending with only 5. Their 6th person has been AFK the entire time.
Most of the time, it’s caused by a player disconnecting. It’s just the timeout takes too long into the match itself. You may not notice, but you actually likely won a 6v5, not a full team fight. The other guy was in his spawn not moving.
